    did they mention why some of the bigger owners and were invited to the first one???

    Don't get me wrong any promotion of ownership is good, but with so few syndicators around surely all RWWA need to do is hold days with reps from these syndicators there and let the syndicators do the rest?? And if they are new to racing and only after the small percentages then they have to come via Syndication..Or are registered Syndications going to be disbanded??

    yes the PTT one was pushing the friendship a little bit, but others since have been afforded a massive amount of freedom of interpretation of syndicating/friendship rules.

    It is a thank you to owners in recognition of what they have put into the industry. They looked after us extremely well, had various tours behind the scene. They will have more throughout the year, next in Bunbury.
    So they are trying to look after existing  connections & attempting to bring in new owners. People organizing were efficient, dedicated and very open. Very happy.

    Perth Racing did all this last year when I was at a BGC function. Quite a few went out to the barriers and others went up to the calling box.

    They were great and it was no trouble for the crew to show everyone a good time. So it is nothing new.

    @paraletic thats because we all know who to ask. I think the bigger guys were left out because well let's be honest, that gimic stuff is not why we race nor is it of a whole lot of interest.
    For new people to the industry and those who have ever only watched it from the grass it brings them closer and also helps educate them on the backend of racing.
    I hope it works, I really do because without these new people coming in we soon won't have a Magic Millions Sale because there will be no one left to buy the horses.

    I see under the tab on the RWWA site that they now make reference to WAROA and several other sites. So maybe they are developing a plan as they go along.. Still hopeful it'll be beneficial..although still not sure how!?!?!?

    @RIO developing a plan... The anticipation is killing me. I am sure their ideas have all been good and with the best intentions but the execution has been a little lack lustre thus far

    Gee its great to see this initiative having a big impact on ownership at the recent sales.....And what an abysmal attendance we would've had on KK Day if they didn't have the impact they had!!!!!!

    Does ANYONE really know what this is about????

    Surely our biggest 2yr old race day was an ideal day for them to be promoting horse ownership??????

    Dumb non racing people coming up with initiatives that have no impact on horse ownership.

    But RWWA pat themselves on the back.

    Perhaps some serious internal analysis of the outcomes of some of these initiatives would lead to some employees moving on.

    give me $1Mil and a 5yr contract and i'll get new owners involved...in fact i've met another bloke recently that could also do the same.....but no-one in a government department likes paying out that sort of money

    It's been two years since this concept was launched, and at yesterday's Magic Millions barrier draw for Saturday, it looks like it is still trying to get off the ground.

    If you remove all the familiar faces, Trainers looking for owners, staff working stands, and several media staff, and those there for the barrier draw, then there wasn't a lot of real participation.

    Two years is a reasonable time frame to conduct a review, because if they don't do something in the next 12 months, the last one out can just turn the lights off.

    My sources tell me that some current and former owners have admitted defeat in the face of the Bob Peters onslaught, and as such have scaled back their involvement as finances are tough anyway and his stock is just killing it in real terms. This isn't a criticism of Bob, just a result that was inevitable given his standards in breeding and management that are seldom replicated elsewhere.

    But the message to the unconverted is just not getting through. I come in contact with many people with the capacity to own horses, but choose not to because of adverse conceptions about the Racing Industry. Many of those have been borne in places other than Perth, but the fallout is the same. It really has nothing to do with building facilities, it's the product which is on the nose.

    I think it is time for a review Mr Burt.

    Bit of a defeatest attitude (re Bob).
    I see it the opposite - take him on ! :)

    Had a nice comment a while back when doing a bit of business, which I quite enjoyed.
    When asked if he was familiar with the mare (ie did he need to see her) he replied "yes, I've seen the back end of her a few times"

    Had to appreciate that, take it as a compliment, and be satisfied in that he can be beat !

    I'd like them to come forward with the analytical data of new member/owners that are a result of their activities. At the end of the day I applaud them for trying, but it'd be good to know if they are heading into the right direction, or need a change of tactics

    I don't know how many morning bbq's there have been, but I have never been to one and none of my friends involved in racing have been to one either. But they just seem to want to roll out an endless calendar of breakfast bbq's. Try something new to get more participation. To be honest barrier draws don't really pump my nut either.

    It's great that they have been trying but the concept needs a review. Just going on photo's published, it's the same faces, minimal attendance and preaching to the converted. The MM draw in town was better attended, but photo's also can be very selective. Many were there just for the barrier draw.

    I think they could do a better race day concept all together and approach this from a completely different angle.

    What they are doing may be working.....but do they know? Are they keeping stats on attendance, etc. I struggle to see how the BBQ breakfast is any more than a free feed for those already involved in the industry.....but it'd be good for OO to do a media release with an update of their activities and some nuts and bolts numbers of its success or otherwise

    Every year that I'm in racing is another year my enthusiasm is losing traction.
    I've looked at the syndicated horse's but a quick look at the yearling sale price vs syndicaters mark up has shied me away then horses come up for syndication that the trainer has already fully got a gauge of its ability so if it's up for syndication then a good chance it's not setting the track alight.
    If a good one is bought early then insider owners usually those with the money or somthing that's of interest to the trainers future get the first option or as Darren wire said not that long ago on the TV about one of his, was it was going really good so he rang a couple of mates and said get in on this one.
    I'd rather throw up 20k with four others and get one from the sale (over East) and flip a coin for luck. To breed a mare seriously I look over East for stallions or else it's just abit of fun to remain doing it in WA.
    There is exceptions but very far and in between.
