Pike has been booked for The Underworld.

Gee, I know its the owners privelege but there is a lot of dead wood/interference material in the race.
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
In which mate? I though most of the Guineas horses had a chance....
  • Its also BEST OF BRITISH race day

Ive heard Wes Camerson will be wearing top hat and tails ala Royal Ascot attire

The Queen and Prince Charlie will also be there and no doubt there will be plenty of fit birds much better looking than Pippa Middleton in attendance for the young chaps

be interesting to see how the concept goes. Irish and Italian days are very popular......there are more poms around, but its a newer concept so may take a few years to catch on.
Are they having pommy beers on tap?

i know im generally bias towards trevs horses but sweet serenity looks hard to beat from the perfect alley. to be honest the underworld beat nothing..
miss vinnoire and cavallo pazzo would also seem top hopes but the barriers hurt.

what price grand nirvana?? im prob be having a go at battle emblem and grey monarch, much more for the place
  • how does the barrier help sweet serenity??

it always settles back so a good barrier is a of no use to it - looks like it will jump from 6 or 7 - is that perfect?
  • VorgtrafficVorgtraffic    1,755 posts
Barrier helps sweet serenity because it most likely means that it will be off the rail and have clear running

yes! it would of won last start if she wasnt stuck back on the fence. she can settle just worse than midfield, one off the fence and get to the outside(or at least in the clear) in the straight. She needs room to wind up before accelerating which is exactly what she got two starts back

needs early tempo more than room

got out in plenty of time last start - was actually a brilliant ride by Yuill horse just wasnt good enough on the day

should have a good chance tho in the Guineas

it wasnt a brilliant ride mate, she was three lengths off proud hero at the turn who was the horse in front of her. Had she been on his back she wouldnt of had to make up as much ground in the straight. She needed to dig her up earlier. Having said that Media Alert seemed to be finishing almost as strong over the last 50m. Im not declaring her or anything I just think her form warrants serious consideration - hopefully Yuill stays on, shes a top jock and will learn from last time. As diva said there are heaps of chances.

i also wouldnt write off ancient spell at bolters odds, battled on real good after being wide off a strong tempo last start

Seems a tough race. No one has a clear pick yet.

I'd have a crack at Admiring if there were some decent odds about her, second up at 1600m might be an issue but she hit the line nicely in the Belmont sprint. It would be a tough ask for her to turn the tables on KKK and GN, however its been a long time since KKK has run 1600m and looking through GNs career, seems to not have the best record at 1600m, however he does look the one. Cant forget Inarticulate either, first up wasnt inspiring but can run an improved race.

Admiring at odds would do me at this stage of the week...

interesting you thought the previous ride was better yet she was much further back

digging the horse up is probably the worst thing you can do on horses who are natural backmarkers

I think you are judging too much on the result of the race rather than the actual ride itself

the query may be whether it will get 1600m

haha well maybe your right. even still I think it was a top effort last start and getting to the outside will be much more suitable. she has to be a top chance and I will be barracking for her.

Diva, it seems Player and Centrebet are down at the moment. Any chance you'll lead up the fixed odds markets this weekend? IAS will need someone to copy.

the restrictive nature of being a bookie in WA is that we cannot legally put up a market pre-post without physically being present on a racecourse where there is a meeting being held on that particular day.

So, if I went to RGL and asked permission to bet pre-post on Thursday, I would need to be present at Pinjarra racecouse (or have a server at Pinjarra races), only then could i compete with the corporates in NT on a Thursday.

The reason we can pre-post bet on Friday is because we actually have a server at Gloucester Park, a place where there is a meeting on that day.

None of the other bookies bet pre-post in WA because they cant be bothered going to RGL, too-ing and fro-ing for 6 months to get approval (yes, it took that long), then getting permission from Gloucester Park to house a server there and operate on a Friday, then going thru the process of getting everything to work properly, loading up fields and software a day early, getting all the bugs ironed out of dynamic odds so we can compete with the corporates head to head (which is still not completely bug free), then to hold about $1000 in pre-post bets.......

    not really worth it!

But, we'll keep competing........its all we can do.
  • velcrocandyvelcrocandy    204 posts
We have also requested in writing with RGL that they give us permission to bet on line on THursdays with our server at Gloucester Park. That letter was sent out 2 months ago & though they have confirmed receipt we have received no reply.

Seems all the "officers" with a knowledge of racing are on extended leave.
