Owners need to boycott the track IMO

im not sure any eastern staters will come over if the track stays rock hard. Was probably like running on the freeway.

Well the only way they could get on it was to not water.....

Now if they water continuously to get the bottom half of the track growing they will continue to get the problem  on the top half. Also grass Sweats, so the problems associated with Sweating - and all the fertilizers and additives coming out of the grass, will not be seen until mid afternoon most day!!!!!

So don't water = rock hard......

water only enough as normal = bottom half won't recover until next winter...

water enough to help the bottom half recover = top half risks being lush and slippery when it sweats in the sun.

Solution, IMO..shut the track down for 5 weeks, water the **** our of it and get the bottom half to recover, then come back.

Agree owners, with support from their trainers should boycott the place.. But only by scratching at 0800 on race day for the next few meetings.. If PR are going to continue to be silly about fixing the problem then owners/trainers should come down to their level.

And you cant ask WAROA to go in to  bat for you as one of them is the #1 Ticket holder of PR, and the other is the most senior board member of PR!!!

Perth Racing will transplant grass from parts of the Ascot track to
improve the damaged section and run Super Saturday’s gala meeting in
    its true position.

all of you posting on here must know more about tracks than Jason Kerr the Melbourne race club general manager of racecourses his assessment of the track according to todays west he states that is as good as Flemington or Caulfield this bloke must know a little he has been employed by the mrc for 28 years and prepared the surface for the past 12 runnings of the Caulfield cup

agree with the questioning wholeheartedly spinking......and lets hope he has got it right... I'm no where near a turf expert, not seen the track and if I did it'd make no difference.. but I do know a bit (and I don't mean a lot, just a bit) about the effects of additives(lime, limestone, nutrients, etc) , water and heat to grass.

I hope it is an easy solution ,well managed and we get back to the track we want and need...My above post was a knee jerk reaction to hearing that horses have been knocked around again due to a hard track...just bloody frustrating!!!

if the track is so good why are we transplanting lawn and racing at 18m spinking?

Was nothing wrong with it Saturday.
Should never have been called off, and should never have been forced to race at 18m (a surface that's always going to be harder without without watering) yesterday.

I don't know Snoop you would have to ask the powers that be that one I just find it a bit farcial when a bloke that obviously knows what he is talking about comes out and states what he has said  something isn't jelling here after what he has said this morning I think all it adds to the debate is confusion would be interesting to see the report that is going out to stakeholders in the next few days maybe someone can get hold of it and post on here so all ptt can see whats the outcome

Went yesterday plenty of room to run and a few backmarkers flew home, first floor want some food walk to the bar at the end order then when your buzzer lights up walk back down to the food hatch? One person serving beer  two sometimes always a queue twice was asked to wait while the schooner glasses where washed.Must put the good glass away for the saturday crowd!

Do you know what part of the track that was cut from ( if it was?) or is turf from another location?
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts

Probably the back straight......no-one will be able to see that from the grandstands 400m of dirt, then onto the course proper...

    =)) =))  Isn't Derby like that??

Turf being relayed in trouble spots at Ascot really great if rail can be back to 3 for 'SuperSaturday'

Maybe they should of thought about doing this earlier,im just wondering how some horses pulled up after racing on it yesterday.? lets just hope all are ok.
  • I think it has been cut from the 2400m. Only 1 race to worry about in January.

Just got an apology from PR..it wasn't there fault...there was "A freakish incident occurred during an exhibition gallop"...

Thank god it wasn't due to poor track management and incompetence!!
