R1. Amelia Park Lamb Plate - Scott Embry

Sean Casey has labelled Veuve De Vega a work in progress and we certainly saw those progressions last start when he pushed highly talented JT Warwick filly Elegant Blast all the way to the line. Dropping back from 1300m to 1200m should be ideal and drawn barrier 2 Jake Casey can elect to lead or chill in the box seat and either way from there Veuve De Vega should be very hard to beat. Debutant Storm Dancer has trialled in impressive fashion when running all over the top of rivals at his latest 1000m trial a fortnight ago. Should measure up on debut in a race which lacks depth. Oregon Bronze was well supported last start but failed to finish off the race as anticipated. With the claim for Randy 'Savage' Tan only carries a postage stamp 51kg and run a race. Burning Magic finished alongisde Carnelian who ran third to Dainty Tess and High Conviction on debut, a form reference which will hold up in these mid-week type juvenile sprints. Gets a lovely run from barrier 1 for inform hoop Brad Parnham.

3. VEUVE DE VEGA - 8. STORM DANCER - 9. OREGON BRONZE

I love reading the preview and seeing horses I've backed on top of selections.

Properantes and Socially Unique have already got some of mine at 4.60 and 4.40.

My only other crack tomorrow is a decent one, each way Universal Law at $5 and $2. Can't go past it on previous runs, drawn beautifully, gets weight off and I'll think they will absolutely motor along, which suits. What a cracking race.

R2. Pink Ladies Day - July 9 Handicap - Scott Embry

It could be a very narrow early quaddie if Dainty Tess gets up in the first leg and Cool Passion collects her mortgage over race 2. Undefeated at 1000m from barrier 2 it's hard to see anything holding Cool Passion out and even harder to see any of the swoopers giving her a head start and running her down on a fair track. Has been forced to do it three and four deep throughout at her past two starts and this week it looks like she will lead on her ear. No doubt there will be a number of people playing the multiples at this meet and she will feature heavily as a multiplier for many a punter. Malibu Style was good first-up when getting cover behind Cool Passion. Meets her 2kg better here and should get another economical run in transit. King River is screaming out for 1200 or even 1400m in my opinion and will again be run off his feet at the 1000m.

    3. COOL PASSION - 5. MALIBU STYLE - 8. KING RIVER

    SUGGESTED BET - 3. COOL PASSION $100

R3. Raceday Hospitality - Book Now Handicap - Scott Embry

It's Dynamite was very good first-up behind Prime Witness who controlled the speed and lead from start to finish. With the claim of Randolf Tan carries only 52 and meets Prime Witness 4kg better at the weights for less than a lengths defeat. Barrier 1 should be ideal sitting behind likely speed setters Stravigo, Regal Gleam and Prime Witness and from there should be saved for one last short, sharp sprint and go close at decent eachway odds. The other I'm keen to play as a saver is Mystic Maid. Winner two starts back over Pretentious Chant who went out and turned the tables on her over 1200m. Dropping back to 1000m last start looked ideal and was backed from $11 into $6 before being a late scratching behind the barriers. Drawn beautifully in barrier 2 for Kate Fitzgerald I think the three kilo claiming apprentices in Fitzgerald and Tan can fight out the finish. Stravigo was a noticable drifter at his WA debut and was out gunned by Marchand. On the weeks back up stepping to 1200m should prove hard to hold out.

    8. IT'S DYNAMITE - 1. MYSTIC MAID - 4. STRAVIGO

    SUGGESTED BET - 8. IT'S DYNAMITE $10 x $40

R4. Hahn Super Dry Handicap - Scott Embry

Properantes is a proper horse and a galloper I have a lot of time for. Think he is in for yet another highly profitable preparation and will make the step into open class and beyond. A real Perth Cup contender early in the year if that's the path the inform Webster stable take. First-up run behind Guineas favourite Scales of Justice was exception. The race was run and controlled from the front with horses towards the back left flat footed chasing for fun late in the race. Properantes came from last around the home corner, sweeping five and six deep outside Military Ruler to run into sixth. Should only improve second-up and is one worth following. Military Ruler is in career best form and has the opportunity to settle outside the lead with a lack of speed in the race if Pike so chooses. In a race lacking speed Muskets At Dawn should roll straight to the front and go close again. Another win is right around the corner for the awkward looking galloper.

    4. PROPERANTES - 6. MUSKETS AT DAWN - 5. MILITARY RULER

    SUGGESTED BET - 4. PROPERANTES $25 x $25

R5. Strickland Stakes - Scott Embry

On Saturday we will get the answer to a question many supporters of Wink and a Nod have been waiting to ask for a very long time. Can she run 2000m? Already proven as the Queen of WA racing and hopefully targetted towards an Eastern States campaign later in the year the 6 year old McFlirt mare tackles 2000m for the first time in her career. Yet to race beyond a mile there is nothing suggesting she wont run out a genuine trip and with the field size reduced to only 7 after the scratching of Balmont Girl she looks yet again incredibly hard to knock. I'm willing to look beyond her because I think there are some big prices. Respondent reunites with W.Pike and has been desperately unlucky in a number of recent runs. Ihtsahymn is building towards another victory. Those two gallopers fought out the WATC Derby in 2014 and should relish every inch of the extended trip. Gris Caro is the logical leader and should be allowed to run the race as he sees fit. Is the winner of 5 of his 11 starts at the distance and proved last start he could be a valuable WA acquisition going forward this winter. Think the race is a bit deeper than just Noddy.

    2. RESPONDENT - 6. GRIS CARO (GB) - 1. IHTSAHYMN

R6. Fast Track To Membership 2016/17 Handicap - Scott Embry

Happy to narrow the second leg of the quaddie down to just the three: Stocks, Socially Unique and Max Almighty. Socially Unique settled last first-up and blew rivals away late to record an impressive win. Has an imposing record of 5 wins from 15 starts and looks a galloper on the rise. Max Almighty finally broke through for the second career victory we all probably expected 18 months ago. Has landed at his third trainer in Alan Mathews who looks to have the 5 year old Balmont gelding flying. Can definitely go on with it. Stocks looks well weighted with only 56.5kg dropping from 78+ back to 72+ grade and up in distance which should suit him. Settled last in a quality field and charged home down the outside to finish seventh over 1200m last start. On the 7 day back up and rising to a more suitable trip he can definitely make his presence felt. Not a whole lot of love for the rest of them with Flying Roar appealing as a mad roughie to improve sharply. Effectively had four 1000m trials and needs the 7 furlongs.

    7. SOCIALLY UNIQUE - 10. MAX ALMIGHTY - 1. STOCKS

    SUGGESTED BET - 7. SOCIALLY UNIQUE $25 x $25

    R7. Waroa-belmont Guineas - Scott Embry

Showy Chloe gives Mitchell Pateman an outstanding opportunity at another Listed Success as a hoop. 1000m win two starts back over talented sprinter Bourne Supremacy was extremely sharp and then last start was well commissioned and far from disgraced when beaten 3 lengths by Scales of Justice. Gets a distinct barrier advantage and massive 7.5kg weight swing in her favour here at Set Weights and should get every possible chance to win. Should settle perfectly about third on the rails behind the Miller pair Rosmartini and Key To Fame who will look to control the tempo and probably have main rival Great Shot to her outside. Those two are the main chances in my opinion as they should both get very soft, cosy runs and unleash late. Great Shot drops 1.5kg on his effortless 1400m victory last start and is drawn to figure prominently. Scales of Justice will need to sit 3 and 4 deep for the majority or settle at the very back of a full field of 16 gallopers as will Universal Law. The gate is a major blow to Scales of Justice and the racing pattern of Universal Law makes it hard for him. Only 4 chances in my opinion.

    14. SHOWY CHLOE - 5. GREAT SHOT - 3. SCALES OF JUSTICE

    SUGGESTED BET - 14. SHOWY CHLOE $50 x $50

R8. Les Caporn 70th Birthday Handicap - Scott Embry

State Solicitor opened up $2.40 in mid-week company at his return to racing and one generous on-course bookmaker kindly bet me $2.70 so yes I am in love with the horse and yes I think he will go onto bigger and better things and is capable of stringing a serious number of wins together this preparation while jumping through the grades. This race is admitedly harder than his first-up assignment but really if he can't beat these then his career won't be overly exciting. Certainly not worth loading up on at the extremely short odds but near on impossible to tip against. Definitely doubling him with Cool Passion looks a sure fire way to double your money, straight in - straight out but backing in two odds on favourites is fraught with danger. De Andes should be able to find his favourite spot in front and I see him as the danger. Bjorn to Love returns to the track almsot a year since his last appearance. Never really looked right last preparation and has trialled well for his return. Tudor Bolt can improve sharply with Paul Harvey aboard. PTT Quaddie: 1,2,5,6,8 / 1,7,10 / 2,3,5,14 / 13 - $100 = 167%

    13. STATE SOLICITOR - 8. DE ANDES - 10. BJORN TO LOVE

    SUGGESTED BET - 13. STATE SOLICITOR $100

i give you all permission to call me a fruitloop BUT i am having a bite at Tonkatuff in the guineas @101. needs to settle mid race, but if you watch its replays it looks like a 2 mile horse in the making and it might just have some hidden ability. or it runs like a 100-1 pop. Happy to be on the record though.

I cant have Veuve De Vega on top today had burned my fingers on many occasions now.
    Slik Sam for me.

Cool Passion will be very hard to beat, I like Dueton to run a big race.

It's Dynamite for me with light weight, War Jeune from the inform Wolfegang to go close.

    Muskets At Dawn for me.

It's a trifecta for the Warwick stable in this one Wink and a Nod on top with stable mates close behind.

Not sure how Reflectance will handle the ground but should go close, Socially Unique very hard to beat.

Fancy an upset here today Battle Torque has been racing well without winning I think today is his day, Tonkatough at any old odds to run a solid race.

State Solicitor should be in a league of his own here

Dirty at myself, was going to back ihtsahym yesterday but changed to Properantes. Classic example of steering away from the jockey, but credit he rode it a treat today.

Good for the quaddie though. To finish for 23.21%
