woohoo, we have a colt. 11.15pm 18th August. legs that go for miles.

Keith PM me ure email as I cant find it, my computer shat its self and I lost alot of contact.

Will post pics if someone could teach me :)

I bet he is like a readymade athlete, they all are at least the ones I have seen,His grand-dad has the current World Champion race horse"Sea the Stars" winning another group one 2 days ago.Scullywag phone me as your email address bounces back and I don't have your number.
Definately Athletic, tears around the paddock, faster then any foals Ive seen, (and I worked at a stud and been around plenty of them), oh and he is quick smart too, picks things up real quick, Already halter broken and leads quiet well. Oh and real Cheeky

Looks healthy. What a nice looking foal.

Thanks, He is sooo cheecky and at the moment he knows how to get through the fences so Ive been out there reinforcing everything and I need to fix my electrics so he will learn so respect for them. But he is coming along queit nicely.

What a ripper foal Scullwag I would return the mare to Cape North to get another like that!!!.Fred Kersley had a huge opinion of Cape North and the sireline is certainly firing worldwide so he is a bargain at his realistic service fee.It was a shame a broken pastern stopped Cape North's racing career, but he did win a Group 2!!!

Its not a silly as it sounds. He is unproven as a Sire but his fee reflects that. With the proof in this first foal, I would strongly think about going back to the well one more time. If nothing else, on type you look to have a racehorse.

Otherwise give me a call, I can get you a great deal on a Group 1 winning Sire that does produce. LOL

Definately thinking about it, but dont want to miss out on any of his growing. SO catch 22 (being a protective mother LOL) But definnately next year, but still thinking.

Are you saying that you are considering keeping her empty this year ?
    said:

Possibly, I have another mare which I really want a foal from and can really only afford to put one. At the moment it comes down to $$$$ Agisting is not cheap. Sparkles is good she is easy enough to get in foal but Sadie proved to be a bit of a problem last year, but I do think she was not in the frame of mind, and I think this year may be a different story, as she really wants that little colt LOL.

    said:

If you van serve, its only if your mare doesn't go into foal that you will have to try again. Most studs would only have a minor handling fee for the day, and as far as the service fee goes I can put in a word for you on a choice of two Sires, if you would like.

    PM if you want details.

    said:

oh I know all that its just that we would have to agist as it is too far to keep going back and forwards, but she would most likely take the first time anyway (like last time) but still its just easier. Ive got no qualms bout agisting at Nui Mara, Keith does and excellent job with the horses and I wouldnt lose any sleep with them being there, Cause Sparky got special treatment there last year as shes not to friendly with the other mares LOL she gota paddock and stable all to herself. The service is second to none and I couldnt recommend them any higher than I do.
I dunno Im still deciding, just I will miss my poor little baby and when he comes back he will be all grown up, plus I dont think Keith would want me there every weekend LOL :D

    Ok,
I think that is majority of it from the last one we had going. Also update on Rocky, He is already starting to eat hard feed LOL (only just over a week old), and he leads of a halter beautifully now.

Scullywag she is seriously considering foaling within the next few hours or she has the agistment well and truely bluffed. She is down for the count and opening up as I speak. She only has 3 hours left of her due date :)

Mare is Halogen Miss (dont say halo mare) in foal to Husson Lighting.

Hi MLP! I havent seen you post these on the other site!

will tell you when she spits it out. Same thing tonight setting the alarm off.
  • scullywagscullywag    60 posts
mine did that for 2 weeks 3 times a night, then all of a sudden she stopped for a week then when she did go down again it was to have it. Maybe ures is doing what mine did, napping and rolling LOL. Also she could be waiting for the bad weather to pass or like mine wait for the fromt to hit. It was bucketing down with rain when sparky had hers
  • SimpleSimple    65 posts
gosh I think my agistment would go stupid if she went 2-3 weeks over her due date lol Her shape has change and end is floppy and they have done milk strip test and she is the highest level on the test which in all the others they have ever used on meant dont go anywhere the next 12 to 48 hours. But it could be wrong lol

Just aslong as it comes out health I'll be happy. Foal is very much alive from all reports has some serious movement happening when you rest the hand on the belly.
  • scullywagscullywag    60 posts
I wouldnt be going on that milk test, its not that good. A friend of mine had the test and i sadi the same thing, well the mare had it 3 weeks later. If she has waxed up itll be close.

    waxed up lol

Might sound stupid, but I watch for a change in their demeanour and reckon when they start extending their tail for long periods they are getting very close.

Late foal Wilson, and to a Sire that has taken plenty of time to produce. I hope you have a lot of patience
