Is the Nab Cup a guide to the AFL Season???

Can you get a good reflection on the season from NAB cup results...
I never thought so, teams playing kids etc...
But the following table shows some evidence it could be an ok guide...

Perhaps natural talent could be enough to get you throught early rounds of the NAB Cup before you hit full action in the last 2 weeks... hance if a good teams natural ability and club depth get them through the first 2 weeks of the comp, naturally the stronger teams may prevail....

eg Richmond 2001 (just using them as know it off top of my head) runner up NAB Cup, not mentioned as GF'ists EOY - but did run 3rd.
Probably plenty more as such in there.
Also teams that may have run top 2 but injuries etc dampened.
