Is going to be a cracker my friends. Early Tips??

I love the list of horses Scenic Blast has been finishing behind of late. Black Caviar, Sea Siren, Buffering, Fleeting Spirit etc. This a step down in class.... OR is it?

Will be interesting to see if Ben Pearce elects to take on Barakey with just a 1kg advantage. Looks a shocking disparity being on the minimum in that field.

More interesting to me is the 2YO race on the same program. Recent trial black bookers including Camporella, Candour, and Mu Mu Land are set to clash. Should be an interesting betting market.

Doesn't matter, it won't start anyway. They should stay away from Barakey for an entire season. He is untouchable this year.

i am not so sure, he does not impress me as much as he did before the last 2 runs, neither of which were that hot imo.
maybe he is being held back, i don't know, but neither of those last 2 runs have looked like the old barakey to me.

Would be a bit mad to take on Barakey with only 1kg less- would receive about 17 ratings points if he were to win being a 97+ race ( @carey is that correct?)

Barakey gets in on a very low weight - will be hard to toss, if anywhere near his top!

Travinator should go the 1000m on Saturday, take the four points and then decide whether the Winterbottom is the best option!

by my reckoning he would go to about 101 if he won that, so you are correct i think.
but where he should go to, i suppose depends on how good he actually is.
if he is really a top class horse, i wouldn't bother too much trying to keep his rating down, as there is more money to be won at the top end.
from my reckoning he is pretty good, but am not sure just how good.

Given the Winterbottom is WFA anyway, it really won't matter which way they go - 30k on Sat or 25k for 2nd in the Colonel Reeves (might be a chance to see how close the two really are). Travinator has drawn the river in the Colonel Reeves also.

Either way looking forward to Travinator and Barakey going head to head either this week or in the WB!

@dungy - must say given the protection of Barakey's ratings points, it seems it may have worked well, when you notice that Barakey is on 4.5kgs less than SB and 5.5kgs less than PP.

Candour is out now, I hope this race stays together

There are nine months left in this year, in the Racing year that is.

Might be holding off till the Saturday I'd say - extra 30k to head to the paddock with if they win...

this race will give us a guide to where Barakey sits.
im on the Barakey wagon, but Scenic blast near right could undo him Tuesday.

Would be great for WA racing if Barakey could keep his unbeaten record in tact but couldn't begrudge old Scenic Blast winning. Looking forward to the race immensely.

A bit of the gloss comes off with Power Princess and Travinator not accepting however.

LL how much $$$$ has Scenic Blast won ??? say no more :))

Yes dungy, but if JT had of ignored his rating points, he would be on the same weight as them on Tuesday (rather he goes in with a large weight advantage). Also remember Barakey is only 9 starts into his career, SB is 31 starts in and has won big races!

Tuesday will show how good Barakey is and hopefully SB is back to his best - looking forward to the race, albeit a small field - but that should mean no excuses for any runner!

I dont think we will learn anything about barakey on tuesday. Its another joke race which tells us nothing because hes thrown in at the weights and most likely has a large fitness edge on the others and everyone is terrified of him

I really like scenic blast in this field, he is a class above barakey. And if barakey happens to beat the blast, the blast is still a better horse.

apples with apples....ones already a champion ..the others the new kid on the block...think i might pop down and give Damien some company for this one race

I don't have any particular access to information regarding Barakey, nothing more than what anyone else would be able to ascertain via outdated media sources. So my support and assessment of his ability is strictly my own personal opinion.

I have never backed the horse in any of his nine wins. I certainly don't have any financial connection to the yard, just two clients who have followed my advice and placed horses with Taylor Racing.

Outside of that I'm just a fan.

I do however assist Morton Racing on Facebook, in addition to the Barakey fan page, so a win by either Barakey or Scenic Blast, will be a good result in my eyes. It will also be a good result for Racing in WA, something that I work mostly unpaid for most days of the week.

I find it particularly disappointing when my motives are called into question.

I think the Blast is well and truly past his best. Should be money for jam for Barakey, The Bondi Spy tells me J T has never had he horse better

scenic blast has his fair share of issues but a sound sb would show barrakey a clean pair of plates imo.

    Age being the major one.
