Early thoughts for me are that Vampiro could cross, looking back through some replays there was a race Mistrel was leading and Perfect Major showed some real acceleration outside him-Perfect Major doesn't have anywhere near the early speed of Vampiro.

That said I don't expect that to happen as jnr would be well aware of the chance of a retake so he would push up outside Vampiro to pocket Minstrel. So i'm expect Vampiro to provide a bit of a shepherd to the stable mate then take the trail in the moving line on Chicago Bull-that's my opinion on how the Bond stable have the best chance of winning the race not having Vampiro leading with Minstrel trailing.

Does Magnificent Storm come around is the next big question??

Intriguing race, again an early thought but Minstrel is probably a backable commodity at the current price.

Lets hope Richie calls Minstrel Minstrel!

Think the Bonds will hoping Ritchie calls Minstrel, the Winner.
    Richie called it right.
    great race.
    great call.

What did ya think of that Gilga.
    Good thing beaten.

Mr Lewis has driven more winners than I’ve had lunches but unfortunately this time his error in tactics cost him (and my bet) the race. Only had one horse to beat the way the race was run and he gave up the advantage that he had on it.

Oh well love to fight another day.

I herd them talking about this on the radio how long ago was it a standing start , I have only ever known it as a Mobile start?.

Hey Mike, the last standing start was on 2009.

Just a guess but through the early 2000s I’d say it was still roughly a 30/70 split of all races run stands/mobiles.

Personally I loved it as it gave you a point of difference. They always say they do these things to protect the punter/punters want regularity but for me I want the point of difference to find angles to punt on not to be backing the same things everyone else can see.

Just watched the replay, Richie's call, like many of his big race calls, was a ripper and credit where it is due. Accurate to a tee, exciting and up for the moment. Ditto Matt Young throughout his stint at Busselton again this year. His call of the 5 horse race consolation was superb, more filler than at Joe's Panel Beaters but bought himself a lot of time.

Well JayJay your display cabinet at home full to the brim after last nights cup.
Didn’t start so well at the start (hopefully the young fella learnt one there as we all do along the way) but a terrific drive and performance by the horse in the end.
There is something about country cups and winning them. It’s like the whole town gets behind it which always brings back good memories.
Been a tough couple of years for both you and The horse.
Well done mate enjoy the win ????.

Cheers lads, a huge thrill for an old fella, and Matt Young owns these country circuits. It is not just a job for him, it is a passion and if you are on course to hear his pre and post race stuff, you can't fault it. Country Cups are hard to win, I feel very lucky, it has been a long journey with this little horse, just 23 life time starts. Has really tested the trainer (and the owners) patience but through thick and thin, we have worked it out and it was a very emotional win last night. As Matthew said to me last night, he has been to hell and back with Ossie and I can testify to that. Lets hope he pulls up okay.

thanks for that I find very intriguing to watch as to me it does crate some very interesting starts and anything can happen.

I seem that its normal now for only 1 or 2 races a night apart from Busso to be standing now
