Harness Racing Integrity

Harness & Greyhounds
From Gloucester Park Friday night:

Race 4 - Driver A De Campo - $200 - HR231(2) - Misconduct in making an inappropriate comment during pre-race interview

Everyone wonders why there has been a major decline in popularity in harness racing. One of the major reasons for the decline has been the lack of governance from integrity departments Australia wide.

Aiden De Campo made a comment on Friday night which to many, including myself, was funny. It was highly inappropriate for any media platform, television or social media. He was fined, as above, $200.

The stewards in charge of that meeting should all be fined or suspended from their posts for such a ridiculous fine. It was an inappropriate fine and just highlights the poor job they have been doing in harness for the past couple of decades.

Harness racing is poorly governed and the stewards are the major contributors. $200, Wowee.

Stewards, do you job, stop being imbeciles and perform like stewards. You are supposed to be the police of the racing industry, not filthy government puppets.

What are you on about? You say yourself the comment was highly inappropriate for any media platform, even though you found it funny, The stewards issue a fine, but you say that is inappropriate???

How does this highlight their poor job? The only thing poor here is your labelling stewards 'imbeciles' and 'filthy government puppets'. What disgraceful comments.

Are you licensed? I'm certain that if you were, you wouldn't have the balls to say these things to their face.

It would be interesting to see what fine would have been applied if it was a jockey. $200 for that didn’t fit somehow

Can just imagine James MCDonald or Craig Williams saying that, knowing it was a live take for either TV or social media. Takes the wind out of the "We want to be treated as professionals" sails I would think.

Now you have told me what he actually said .

In my opinion , if that happened  in NSW Harness Racing he would be fined around the $2,000 mark , with 50% of that  fully suspended for the next 12 months on the undertaking he doesnt when he is connected to Harness racing make any public comments that are crass or vulgar

$200 fine for what he said unbelievably light , and i have consistently said that WA Trotting penalties are so so light compared to NSW who i think have got a much better grasp of what the correct penalties should be .

Was probably light on ($200) because only 5 people bothered to listen to the interview
