Greyhound Tipping Comp

Harness & Greyhounds
Looking for suggestions for how to run a Greyhound Tipping Comp

There will be a few prizes but the major one will be a share in a Vixey Pup donated by Box1Racing

Areas to think about are

1. Scoring System - points or based on price?
2. Which meetings Sat? or weekdays Cannington or Mandurah both?
3. Length - no of weeks/meetings

All suggestions/comments welcome

    Great idea. Sign me up.

    1. Definitely run on a price system (ie 1 unit each way basis) as per the WA-TAB. If it goes on a points system everyone will end up picking the shorties.
    2. Run it for Mandurah Tuesday and Cannington Saturday meetings
    3. Run it over 10 weeks - 20 meetings in total and culminating on a Saturday Cannington meeting where all participants will have the opportunity to attend and catch up
    4. Have a quaddie challenge incorporated into the tipping but limit the bet to a flexi bet of $20 in total so the successful tipper will get whatever percentage that is of the WA TAB dividend

In the very unlikely event of a tie; whoever tipped the longest priced winner during the comp should win.

    Yep, I'll have a go...

    1. definitely price - a short winner is better than a long price loser, but how many can catch those longer price winners - there's the challenge! Definitely on a $1e/w basis, makes picking nice price place dogs a good thing!

    2. Cannington Saturday and one meeting at Mandurah a week, maybe Tuesday as it splits the tipping up across each week.

    3. Agree with G-Mac - about 10 weeks, 20 meetings or thereabouts

PTT has tipping software that would work with this type of system, yeah? Think it's been done before, would it be hard to do 10-12 races per meeting?
  • yep we have software for straight tipping

That's one of the reasons I suggested Mandurah.
Different class of dog, different track, a test for the tipster.

Only the % of the share for any vet bills while racing, spelling and such is taken care of by my self.

such as if the share was 25% then 25% would be the owners requirement.

Such things as needles for imunisation and such is also at my cost.

    Hope this helps

25% of future costs includes 25% of the nomination fee? 25% of the trials fee? 25% of the training fee? is this right?

Box1 is just trying to make its shelf in the market in a industry that is growing like bottled water.
