you wont go round unless you get less than 54.5kg? hardly a lot of weight to carry? Or am i hearing you wrong?

Apparently Ranger is unbeatable, so if got to give him (effectively - Mare v Geld) 4.5kg on top.............

    ;)

Never said he[Ranger] was unbeatable Tivs but 54.5kg is a free kick surley
  • dungydungy    9,278 posts
Does that mean that all the ones on 52kg[min] stay there or will they go up 1kg or something like that
  • darkshinesdarkshines    2,837 posts
IMHO you blokes have lost the plot - even if she goes up 2kg she's still carrying less than WFA

wfa is a furphy, and the proof of that is that they have fiddled with it about 2 trillion times over the years, and it's still wrong for the simple reason it can never be right
anyway if she has less than wfa then what about the males that are handicapped to receive weight from her, then you could also say that going by the scale they are far better off.

she is a great horse in wa and i hope she wins it, and reckon she can, but i also reckon she got far too many points penalty last run.
well i don't reckon actually.....I know she did.

Unless Ma Chienne, Admiring or Guyno do something extroadinary in this weeekend's Cox stakes, I don't see anything with a big enough turnaround at the weights to threaten Impressive Jeuney. Hoegarden has 50kg, but is it seasoned enough for a race like this? That horse was clearly inferior to Playing God and it has the same weight pull that PG had on IG in the Kingston Town. If Triple Honour accepts he is going to need to be ridden quiet with the crushing topweight(59.5kg). IG can roll forward without fear, run her own race. They can't rehandicap her if she pulverises the field on the weekend at WFA either.

Over 2 million in stakes.....raced against and beaten far better horses than in this line up......59.5kg is far from crushing....I think if he goes round he will win...Only concern is I dont believe his won going the anticlockwise direction.
He would lap the majority of this lot........

    cheers

That's the thing she shouldn't be on 54.5 but the handicapper wrongly as carey has stated has crucified her for running second in the kt !

He gave her 6kg in the Railway and finished at the tail of the field, then in the Kingston Town he was conceding 3kg and raced outside IG on the pace and just plugged away to finish outside the placings. Now he has to concede 5kg to her. He is really just an accidental stayer(probably because he can't jump) who has lost his sprint and thr majority of his stakes money was won in his lucky Doncaster win and close second to the hussler in the Randwick Guineas, when he was a 3yo. He would probably need to create some kind of weight carrying record as well. Currently 25-1 on tab fixed odds and rightfully so.

You might be right, my point was it can't be that hard on her to run if she's not even carrying an impost carried without fuss in zillions of races by zillions of horses.

But I guess it is hot, the track is hard and the race is generally a graveyard. In that case the weight is a palatable cover excuse that won't put noses out . . well played :P
  • JordanJordan    1,827 posts
Spot on there DS the race is a graveyard and there is a nice race for her somewhere which is a lot more valuable to her broodmare value then the Perth Cup. Not saying she can win one of those races but we won't die wondering and regret it saying bugger we should have just tried winning the Perth Cup which realistically would do nothing for her Broodmare status except for here in WA.

And im not saying she won't run especially if she was to win well on Saturday and she trains on or maintains that nearer the race and the conditions on the day are favourable then more then likely runs but.............

Looks like the practice of gelding has been extended to owners. Too hot? Hard track? That's perth in summer. It's like an eskimo complaining about being cold! The race might have a history of being a graveyard, but it also has a history of being a two mile race and that is significant. Why even bother running this weekend if the Cup is not on the agenda? Impressive Jeuney will be carrying less weight than she would in the Oaks as a three year old.

He actually finished 4 lengths astern to her in the Railway and only 2.5 lengths in the KT......he may not be a true stayer but realistically he's got more class and that may well be enough to get him over the line.
His win in Brisbane (Eagle Farm Cup I think) was over 2200mtr and I recall him hitting the line strongly.
Sound and with everything equal..... he is good value at the odds.

    cheers

    cheers

59.5 is a very good horses weight i thought he went backwards in the KT deserves to be 33-1
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
We should actually only have 53kg (is what I was working on), but magically somehow Triple Honour has dropped 3 points at acceptance

    90% NO !
  • mike moroney's butwaittheresmore should be coming over for the cup now after it won at flemington...

surprised to see player havent suspended the perth cup market, generally closes on the saturday morning of the races, $26 still on offer for BWTM
  • dungydungy    9,278 posts
Can it come over and win Hashy ??? i dont no much about it to be honest mate ,was a good win today
  • the second and third horses it beat are no slouches, beat a couple handy ones there and mike moroney knows what he's doing when it comes to stayers.

as you know there isnt much of a lineup in this years cup and the eastern state horses have a couple lengths on this lot here so it wouldnt have to do alot to be competitive.

keen to see how triple honour goes today from a cups perspective

DARKSHINES out of the Cox Stakes what will win the Cup ????
Imp Jeun [paddock i would have thought gave it away at the 200m ],Col Correct who i have saved on at 16s will struggle to 2400m on that run as he was given all the favours and he fell in ,Trip Hon given every hope but will be heading back to Sydney , Ma Chienne very average run ,Guyno plodded home so that would make Col Correct top weight with 57kg and our old mate Ranger on 52 kg ?????
Get in the line that says COLLECT for Ranger after that !!!!
  • Ranger is no hope of running 2400m strong enough to win

And most of the other are :?: What a weak Perth Cup this will be. Any Eastern Stater ready to steal it.
  • plugerpluger    774 posts
IJ might be spelled after that effort! but then again, it didnt get it its own way, and CC got a perfect sit.
big ted was a good run, i had $10e/w @ $41's for perth cup. but i also had IJ for the cup :(

What does this do to the markets??
    Ranger & Colour Correct ~ $6
    Admiring & Big Ted ~ $10
    Impressive Jeuney & Ma Chienne ~ $15
  • dungydungy    9,278 posts
