Yes we are back to Northam - the unofficial start of winter racing

been some work to the track during the break so hopefully there are no issues with the surface this year

9 decent races with plenty of first starters engaged

    York - Thursday, 28 April

    Following a track inspection by Stewards, Jockeys and Race Club Officials earlier today (19/4) the York track has been passed safe for the above race meeting to proceed.

    Please note all programmed 1300m races will now be run over 1200m to avoid a problem section of the track in the 1300m chute.

    What did you guys think of Amici Nero's trial. Looked a bit green, should improve. Mendicity came out and trialled super on Monday. good barrier, looks a good beginner. i like electric skeleton as well, theyre my 2 bets for the day

    I liked Amici Nero's trial - but 400m is hard to get a guide

    Electric Skeleton isnt much good IMO but wont get much weaker race - still wont be backing it

    PS - Paul Harvey $2.90 on PLAYER for those who are game enough

    be interesting to have any reports on how hard the track is.
    Last year it was like concrete on some days but this year, at least at ascot, they've been using watering a lot more to bring the track back to a decent surface for racing.
    Hopefully Northam follows the same path and uses water to take the sting out of the track.

    re electric skeleton. was told he kept changing strides last start and jordan and staples have worked on him since. is expected to improve. how much it improves remains to be seen

    certainly doesnt encourage anyone to be betting

    Sweet Achiever has a lot of promise I reckon - has returned a lot more professional racehorse than when it did a stack wrong on debut

    2 races to go - the Jocks Challenge is a 4 way go

    O'Donnell - 7 (2 roughies left)
    Turner - 6 (2 e/w chances)
    Harvey - 4 (2 chances)
    Knuckey - 4 (1 chance)

    Im on Turner and quietly confident he should get atleast 1 more point - hopefully he can 2 more and get there as I had a decent bet today
