It's never quite believable when one of our mates leaves us and Geoff was a really top bloke, known and loved by many, and he will be dearly missed. Such a sad day, my heart is heavy.
Life down here can be hard at times, and those close to him know that Geoff soldiered on through some very hard times in life. Showing real Aussie grit and courage. Traits that are known the world over as indicative of the strong types that australia seems to foster.
We shared a host of fun times too, and all who had the pleasure of meeting him in real-life and track-side have loads of stories to share and memories forever. My family will never forget the wonderful day in Gero when Geoff joined in our celebrations on cup day.
RIP mate.

RIP Geoff.

Thankyou Geoff for helping me set up the MBTC website - your input, your photography, your insight and your articles will be sadly missed.
I can still remember our trip to Esperance, MBTC New Years 2010.
You were listed as one of the administrators on the MBTC FB page and on the website... :'(
You would always update the MBTC website with pictures and whip up articles at the drop of a hat when I emailed you...
I will be lost without you Geoff...
I remember you popping up on FB chat and asking if you could call me when your mum passed away because you 'just needed someone to talk to'...
I remember the last time you called for a 'chat' too... you'd be happy to know your close friend whom you held so close to your heart...was the one who found you... My heart sank when she got me on FB and asked if I had heard from u lately...
Happy you passed quietly in your sleep and without pain, sad I didn't get to say thankyou for everything you have done - so thank you Mr Whittle...
I'm sure your many many contacts and friends in racing and FB and PTT will be lost without you too.
Your words and photos will be sadly missed gracing the pages of the internet & print.
Your indepth knowledge of racing and amazing ability to remember names and races and details of events in racing was phenomenal...
I don't think anyone could replace the passion and enthusiasm you put into your work - you worked so hard for so little monetary return - but you did it for the sheer LOVE of it...
You were a Legend mate and now we all will remember you as that ...
Keep playing that terrible music in the back ground of your phone calls
xoxox
P.S Don't tip our bloody horses - it ruins the price and u put the mocka on us
I was lucky to do a road trip with him to Kojonup for the picnic races. Threw him and his gear into the ute and off we went. Music pumping and talking race horses of course we headed out for a racing roadtrip. Geoff had a great time at Kojonup and although we were then suppose to go on to Albany for next race day some little thieves from town came and stole gear from the ute including Geoff's diabetes pen so I had to return him to Bunbury. We were most dissapointed our racing roadtrip had been cut short.
Here is a pic of Geoff taken at Kojonup with Tiarnna posing for the camera and loving every minute of it.
R.I.P. Durrah and hope all your bets are winners up there mate!
Always happy to lend some advice...
Geoff actually was really good friends with my parents, so it is with sadness that I send the deepest Sympathies from our family to yours!
Can only back winners up there mate.
Only kidding, you couldn't get a more lay back dude than Chris.. 8)
RIP mate, you helped me alot and I enjoyed our Gero Race battles we had, and our often arguments over who was better eagles or dockers ;)
Take it easy up there big fella, u will never be forgotten. Absolute Legend. Cheers!!
Like Banger and others, it looked like the end was peaceful.
RIP. :(
As the details are confirmed, I will post here, but it will also be announced on his facebook page.
cheers all.
Lucky I'm not a blackfella or it'd freak me out.
Four legs.
Confusng post.
Can you please explain?
Geoff - thanks for the chats and all your help. Rest In Peace mate.
You may be gone but you will never ever be forgotton.
Thanks for your contribution on PTT and WA racing in general.
PC.
We are trying to assist the Whittle family in paying for a funeral for Geoff. Unfortunately the family has been unable to start planning a funeral as haven?t had the deposit required. We have been able to raise $3k so far but are still considerably short of the estimated $8k cost. It would not be fair to Geoff, a man who gave so much and asked for so little, to not have a decent send off. The Geraldton, Northam, Toodyay, Collie, Moora, Mt Barker Turf Clubs have donated thus far as well as Touchstone Farm. Northam are going to organize a pass around for donations from industry participants at our meeting on Thursday next week.
If you have any contacts that will be able to assist I know the family would very much appreciate it. If you could forward this email on that would be fantastic. I have added it to face book in the hope of reaching as many people as possible.
Many Thanks Damien, hope the race day went well yesterday at Pinjarra. Great to see my local oldie horse win your race. Good old Oaky.
Original email from David Wrensted :
Hi All
I am sure you have all heard of the recent passing of Geoff.
Unfortunately Geoff didn?t leave a provision to cover funeral and other costs. Geoff has a small extended family and they are still covering the costs of another recent family funeral.
With Geoff being such a passionate supporter of all country racing in WA I thought we as a group might be able to return some of that support.
If you are able to offer some support please let me know and the Geraldton Turf Club will co ordinate any donations.
There is no obligation just a avenue for those who would like to contribute.
Regards
David Wrensted

Get ready to tip some winners lads so we can make a decent contribution!
Would love to see this added to on the day.
This was kindly donated by a few of our forum contributors who have put in their hard work over the past few weeks for the benefit of Geoff and his family.
You know who you are, thankyou very much on behalf of Geoff.
If you can get along to the function next week, Ill collect off you there.
If not, let me know and we can work something out.
cheers again.
