    Fremantle calls an end to Harveys reign

    The Fremantle Football Club has today advised Mark Harvey that he would not continue as senior coach of the club in 2012.

    The decision is effective immediately.

    Harvey, who has been senior coach since 2008 after taking over as caretaker coach when Chris Connolly resigned with seven rounds to play in 2007, still had one year to run on his contract.

    Fremantle chief executive officer Steve Rosich said that it had been an extremely difficult decision to end Harveys tenure at the club, which he had joined as an assistant coach in 2006.

    It was an extremely difficult decision to make but after lengthy consideration it is a decision that we believe is in the best interests of the long-term future of the Fremantle Football Club, Rosich said.

    We are very grateful for everything that Mark has done during his six years at the club and wish Mark all the best for the future, both personally and professionally.

    The club will hold a media conference in due course to announce Fremantles new coach. The timing and location of the media conference will be confirmed via media alert.

    All media are advised that there will be no further comment from the club until the media conference.

    woweeee. Must be Eade. Have to have a quality coach on board to pull that out of the hat. Or maybe a superteam of Peter Mann and his assistant Clive Waterhouse are returning to the club to take up the reigns?

    Told Brad Hardie that Freo have got an offer from a big fish, they cant refuse......supposedly Ross Lyon, but that seems weird. :?
    Brad having lunch with Rocket tomorrow so its not him.
    Plot thickens.

    Im with Occy they must have someone good up there sleave to just drop the axe as reckon he has done ok half way mark of the year and after we beat Sydney everyone was saying how good a job he had done got me farrrrrrkd but hey im use to it supporting this train wreck of a footy club !!!!

    Murmurs that he over-ruled medicos on more than one occasion and played blokes not ready. Maybe Mundy issue (had surgery again and won't do full pre-season) pissed of board royal

    I'm comfortable with the decision. I always suspected he was a good senior assistant, but not astute enough for the main gig. Seemed to get out-coached on many occassions.

    I'd be happy with Rocket or Neil Craig David. Probably prefer them over Lyon.

    Dungy you said it mate, this Club has dished up a littany of mediocrity and crisis-points throughout its whole lifespan...then goes and pulls a sudden decision like this.
    Harvey should not have been the fallguy! Either there is a long-term deal with a credible candidate signed and delivered already with long term plans afoot, or else they can pack up the whole joint now and go the way of Fitzroy
