With all the talk re Travinator this week, made me think re sires.........................
Who's the highest profile WA horses at the moment ?

    Travinator - by MOYSATER
    Barakey - by KEY BUSINESS
    Etheopia - by HELENUS
    Luckygray - by BRADBURY'S LUCK

Anyone picking up a theme here......?

    No My Atacanta?

Continuing that theme...................there may well be in a year or two !

I think i can pick up 2 themes here Tivers:

    1) Those stallions mentioned have next to no northern dancer in their blood lines
    2) All have been "forgotten about" stallions.

    2) Was my point, yes.
Which leads back to my post earlier

    "October 29 Quote
As I always say - lot more to do with her than him !"

    So the broodmare sires . . .

    Tribu
    Key Dancer
    Spectrum
    Mukaddamah

The one's still kicking on that list wouldn't be worth a pack of smokes . . .

But as broodmare sires they are all pretty good, Spectrum very good

    Put it this way...................
For 363 days of the year, everyone talks sires.
For 2 days of the sales - everyone just looks at the dam page (rightly so)

I would say that Helenus and Key Business have been given their fair share of top line mares in their time.

but all of those stallions stand for less than $5k! quiet remarkable really.

If that is the case why not send all your good mares to Universal Ruler?
Haven't Impressive Racings best horses been by better quality stallions?
Kasabian (Choisir) Impressive Jeuney (Jeune) Rebelson (Snippetson)

Next years 2yo's for us will be exclusively by UR, bar one filly by Starcraft
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
As for your list above - no superstar stallions there anyway.
Choisir the highest priced of those, and even he's much maligned

Fair enough, time will tell if it is a successful way to go.
    Good luck with them.

Fortunately most of this years are Blackfriars, so no doubt they will just be hitting the track at the same time, as 3yo's ;)

Theodor, as per your comment above, here come the oratorios! those good mares he got 2 or 3 years ago are producing right now.

By the way, what are everyones thoughts on Balmont?
  • darkshinesdarkshines    2,837 posts
    Given that TVH's private media arm . . . i mean pr.com . . . hasn't run many stories on him lately, I'd say his prospects aren't flash.

If you're including Oratism in that - she's actually by Oratorio (IRE).
Everyone seems to have missed that.

Whoops Tivers, Oratism was one of the ones i had in mind. I was very impressed with his run but wasn't impressed when i did my dough on him ;). Luckless run! Fingers crossed next start as she looks a nice prospect :) !

    Is ok.
Race call described HER as one of the local Ora's, and Sunday Times had her as such in the results as well - so you're not Pat Malone ;)
