Agree about having a go. But this kid just does not care about the safety of fellow riders. If he keeps going the way he is he will get a long lagging. Its not as if he is riding in Perth.

James McDonald was the same when he first started riding in sydney-he had a habit of crossing before sufficiently clear i.e two lengths. This was at the time that he was breaking  records in NZ-interestingly I saw another kiwi rider with the same habit so maybe they get away with a bit more over there-well they are allowed to bet, after all. James McDonald will be the country's elite jockey very, very soon so riding that fine line between reckless and ruthless is a balancing act.

He,s a jet big call but he will be the best young lad since D Oliver if he goes east ride thru the winter and get east for the spring he wont be outclassed if he gets the right advise and takes it all on board.
    he has the natural ability

...which country  are you referring to ?  NZ  I hope -  Kiwi riders are  not the level they once were  and although J Mcd is good - he was  in a very 'small pond' where racing is fairly low level.

J McDonald has ridden group winners all over Australia and plenty of winners all over the world !

He's not a perth jockey so feel free to slander him. My posts criticising a poor ride by Parnham have been deleted.

Jeez, and not all favourites which you like to see. Rides everything with such confidence. Why not when every trainer is keen to have in on board.

Anyone hassling this kid out should give themselves an uppercut - four winners in a row is a massive achievement!  Well Done Chris!

no one should be hassling kids out in any event.... they're learning their trade and dont need their confidence shattered by other's words. Good onya Chris, way to answer your critics.  =D>

For the life of me, I can't see anything that this young man has done which is anything other than professional. His family should swell with pride after days like today. The adverse position people take against some Jockeys is laughable. In respect to the current crop of apprentices, they have of late really been coming to the fore of racing here in Western Australia.

We should be doing nothing less than celebrating their collective success.

    Your a good judge Semi-pro,
Schofield won the Monash Stakes today, so I think that trumps three winners with a claim in the west.

So Mitchell Pateman has to cop it sweet though? Consistency from moderators is all I'm asking for.

He's combining quite well with John O'Shea and you would think Waller would throw a few rides his way. Mark my words he will be champion group 1 jockey of Australia

I'm a pest because you don't agree with me? My point is a valid one. There is a thread dedicated to apprentice Mitchell Pateman's ride on Malaika. Why is it not shut down? It's hardly a subtle critique either.
