I'm pretty happy with Petrol Power, I own his dam, Diamonds and Dust, with Yarradale. Had a touch of luck as also now own dams of Ithsahym (Umatune also with Yarradale) and Saint Bro (Parole). Before anyone jumps down my throat, yes I know this should be in the breeding section but given credit Damian is taking for PP just taking his lead. I did not breed any of these classy 3 yr olds but lucky enough to secure their dams.

Didn't Diamonds And Dust's last foal a filly from memory sell for a steal can't remember where i seen it possibly went through the Yarradale sale?

Small filly by the name of "Watch Me Sparkle". A good client of Yarradale acquired it and Ron and I stayed in. She has had one race and disappointed for a run. We are targeting the 2 yr old MM race. She goes well.

D&D typically does not produce a saleable horse, except PP was a ripper. Could explain why she was sold not long after. This years yearling will only be offered through the Yarradale sale.

The Fath yearling out of Diamonds and Dust improved from being a very small horse at the February MM Sale, to a reasonable small horse at the Yarradale Sale. I went to $23,000 or thereabouts but I just couldn't beat the breeding connections and in all honesty $20,000 was my upper limit and I would have had to do some fast talking to Sam for exceeding instructions had I got her. She would not have gone to Jim Taylor, as he simply doesn't like anything under 15.2hh as a yearling. So the fact that she hasn't done a lot yet is not that much of a concern, being by Fath was more of a worry but I was persuaded by her older half brother who at the time I thought went alright.

In respect to the comment by Piston Broke, yes Jim Taylor trains the horse and he did inspect the colt seperately to me but he had thought that to pay more than $150,000 was foolish. I thought otherwise as I had bothered to have the x-rays checked after my own two inspections were I had decided he was the better of the Snitzels on offer at that sale.

The bullet dodged that night was being the underbidder by a long way on the Oratorio out of Scuffs, where I stopped bidding on Sam's behalf at $160,000 leaving two people to fight it out until it went for $180,000 to Craig Thompson and Trevor Andrews. He races as Halusa, and seemingly there must be some challenges with him as his racing has been interrupted I think but not sure. So had we bought him, none of this would be being discussed at all.

There are several other horses that I have been directly involved in, but for some reason, their purchase has been re-written. I have spoken about some of them before, so I'm not going to go over it again.

Needless to say Piston and anyone else listening to idle stable hand gossip, I represent Sam Trimboli and have done for several years. We started together when Paul Harvey picked out Famous Roman as a ready to run 2YO and when Sam was unsure as it was a bit of money, but he tells me that I made up his mind for him with the accuracy of the other horses being considered that went through earlier in the sale, and then realising that me estimate was accurate.

Since then I have represented him and we talk several times per day on all matters Racing. I now represent his Son, David and now that he has returned from his overseas base, hopefully we can snap up another nice one between the Gold Coast or Perth in the next 10 weeks or so. It was for him that I purchased the Testa Rossa being Lot 1 of this years MM Sale. He is named Massarari.

I do not have a connection with Alan Macalister and My Atacanta anymore. We went separate ways a few months ago. Someone asked me again on Saturday and I had been reluctant to put it out there publicly as I didn't want to cast any doubts on MA at that time as he headed into another breeding season. For the Macalisiter family I also purchased Magnifisio. She also has been talked about as being someone else's work. That to is incorrect.

So you are saying Jimmy didn't inform you Petrol Power was his choice for Sam Trimboli but you chose the horse, I would even go as far to say Sam knew of Jimmys pick before you knew, doesn't matter as you signed for it so it must have been you that chose it 1st. Stable gossip is normally pretty reliable gossip :-@

Piston you believe whatever you want to believe.

I'm currently looking at the Gold Coast. One of the lots I have identified and spoken to Sam about, that if it x-rays, Vets, and presents as I believe it will, will be more than he has ever paid for a yearling before. Somewhere upwards of $750,000 will secure this Colt. We may however go with another option and purchase several yearlings at a lower price point, as I want to leave something in the kitty for a yearling going to Sydney at Easter if at all possible.

I don't know who will get the horse if it is purchased, I don't make those decisions, but whoever does should only say thank you.

Stable gossip is at best ill informed. You can of course ask Sam directly, but then you may be told something that you didn't want to hear.

I'd rather spend 273k on high class hookers you know you will get a return it will be pleasurable the way you like it with no complaints about doing what YOU WANT

No vet bills no jockey doing the riding no dodgy rubbin vanilla. Essence on the ole fella no syndicate blow ups

Mates are envious not greedy do the match 273 hrs of unbridled pleasure at 1000k n hr v paying 273 k for a unknown return

So round 35 days of high class hooker action or 5 weeks of top class rides

Gee owning racehorses is a mugs game lol

Just hope after 35 days of unbridled pleasure your own vet bills are not too high take 2 k out for inoculations an a rubber suit

Petrol power v Surjet no contest PP blows Surjet away I saw a chick in Surjets armour I doubt it will win any significant race

PP has earnt 300k at least that owner has got some pleasure

Regardless of who bought petrol power, I'd consider it a good purchase. Money back (or near enough) in 8 starts with 3 wins and plenty more racing to do.

Interested to hear what the chink is? Didnt think he could've gone much better last start, as stated, made 2 runs, first race start in good company, never been beyond a 1000m trial....you must be able to see a bit more from the replay that I could not ascertain?

Disagree mate Surjet had his chance just plodded in the straight I think the unbeatable first up plunge was over optimistic was he flattened by the run you will find out second up sat I guess

He's no world beater will win a couple but nothing out of the box

Magic Millions for $100,000 is on the horizon in 9 weeks, so win lose or draw today, Petrol Power will be coming back for that race being over the much more suitable 1200M distance. Can't see too many troubling him over his favourite distance after a short break.

    No Douglas Whyte, no Sujet.
I may have to eat my words later, but I am sure DW got the absolute last out of this horse at its only  start.
    Good luck to it anyway.

Probably not in the Magic Millions Race :-? but over 1200 when and if he steps up , Smokin, Barakey, Settle Strada, Check Point are just a few that come to mind

$394,000 in stakes with a $100,000 race waiting in nine weeks after a short break. He surely is now the front running horse for 3YO HOTY in WA ?
