Luckygray will be better this week than in the Railway. Ihtsahymn was the one I thought could trouble the fav but looking at his run in the Fairetha and taking a line through Petrol Power I don't know that he is special enough to beat the older horses, but the way he finished in the Guineas 1800m won't be an issue.

Well done to A Durrant with this horse, he brought him from being a handy winter horse , to winning a Railway first up.

Then he acquitted himself well in the east.
He has taken him to a level now, that excludes him from most Western Australian races and the only option is to let him find his feet over East.
Good luck to C Waller with him as I think it will be hard to improve him after Adam.
Hard to improve ??? are you fair dinkum its going to Wallers

There has only ever been 2 races (besides the Perth Cup) that I can remember that are further than 2400, there was the St Ledger and there was a race at Belmont in the 70's for a short period. Perth Cup is a comedy race now.

I remember there was a 2800m race about 2 weeks before the cup. Last time it was run was probably 8 years ago or so?
    not at Ascot

The KT is definitely a race for multiple winners and back-to-back winners too. Since 2000, three horses(Old Comrade 2000/01; Niconero 2006, 2008; Playing God 2010/11.

I think everyone is forgetting this is a weight for age race. Therefore horses with 30 ratings points below the top horses are at set weights. Rohan couldnt beat a bunch of half decent stayers last start, and hes going to come out and win a group 1 on set weights with a proven horse like Mr Moet? ha ha nice one.

I still dont think Luckygray runs out a good 1800m but class takes him a long way. Where Mr Moet will thrive over the 1800m, so i would tip him to turn the tables.

I cant see where ANY pace is going to come from in this race. Which means Luckygray wont have to get a strong 1800m and it will play right into his hands, having the most withering finish of all of those in the race.
This is why I'm intrigued as to how Mr Moet will be ridden. He's best ridden cold, but I wouldnt think he'd have the turn of foot to go with Luckygray if they sprint from the top of the straight.

I think this is mr moets race, prefer Rohan in the cup where he will meet some of these better at the weights and where the 2400m will suit!

This race could have been a classic pace setters race, in that the stablemate could have gone off at breakneck speed and then the field would have had to make the decision in the run to abandon pre-race strategies to chase it down. If they don't the pacemaker wins. I say if, because I don't think this field will trouble any track records in running.

My thoughts exactly - if no-one wants to pump any pace into the race, then imho they are all running for second.

Being interesting to see if any of them have the balls to instruct thier hoop to run it as a horse race and not the usual sit and sprint "Tuesday morning track gallop" menu we are usually dished up with :-w :-?

Weights don't suit Elite Belle but she can charge home of a hot pace she's in the mix

Ranger the forgotten horse going very well does MM win enough nowadays ???

I like horses on the up as Elite Belle is ok very tough race but I think she can figure in the finish as long as Puke does not fall asleep again

i was wondering if bob would "sacrifice" moonlight bay as the pacemaker.

but there would be an enquiry re normal racing pattern etc. unless he made an announcement that the mare would go like a scalded cat as she had been freshened. i wonder.

I love Elite Belle, but look where Kerrific finished in the Railway with a pull in the weights on Luckygray?...and I think Luckygray is going better than the same stage last year when was a dominant winner in the Lee Steere before running 2nd in the Railway with 58kg. He has always looked like he would be peaking for the KT whereas last year there were doubts about him even getting the trip.

It would need to increase turnover on HK through our TAB to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, all the junket achieves is a boost to Hong Kong.

Anyone listening would certainly want to be at Happy Valley next year. Makes it hard to be at Ascot the same weekend.

Enjoyed the in depth Saturday form discussions and reviews, earlier in the week from Richie and Ian Lenton. If Hoops was in town they should have utilised him too I think.
