West Australian Racing

I read on here a while ago about a big betting syndicate from Sydney backing a lot of winners for big money. Haven't heard anything for a while so I am just wondering if they are still operating or they were just a bunch of blonks who had a lucky run?

I've been told recently(2 weeks ago they had a plunge that didn't make it by a nose on a 50/1 shot) definitely YES...and still as successful as before.. but after a thorough investigation by RWWA they were deemed to be just smarter than the average punter, so it is no longer a discussion point.

    Well not for me anyway.

If they are still operating they can't be backing too many winners because no one is ranting and raving, so am I to assume the lucky run is over?

NO....but I will quantify that what I hear is at least second hand before it gets to me.. Maybe some people aren't adjusting their markets when I comes from a certain source to stop a lot of other punters jumping on board?? ;)

maybe those that knew something rotten was happening, are no longer looking, so don't know either way?

Truly how much does go on behind the scenes we don't know about ?

Is it paranoia on the punters part yet here we have Top Jockeys like

Damien Oliver betting on a horse he didn't even ride in the same race

If Olly as he admitted did that what are lesser lights doing the mind boggles or should it is racing clean

For the most part I'd say yes but like all professions there are bad apples who give in to greed an addictions

Just how clean is WA racing is it on the level or not ?

If it isn't to those who make a living from it why would you live of an immoral industry if it is dodgy to some

I like to think we have a pretty clean bunch of jocks here on a tight leech am I wrong if I am then why do you the punter industry participant well participate ?

Because the rogues are actually what brings the colour to racing and ultimately is a part of the attraction for me. If you think this stuff does not go on then keep on living in ignorant bliss no skin of my nose. I know from an individual point of view it inhibits the level of participation I have as a punter. If this stuff was not happening then why do we have integrity units and so much money spent on it. As an owner it does not effect me as much as it should, maybe I too have my head in the sand. I guess I place a lot of faith in the collective conscience of the jockeys that you will catch the swings if you jump on the roundabout and that ultimately the majority are on the good side and that there love for the animal will ensure that they dare not do it with the good ones. As long as there is money involved though people will always seek an advantage and some are willing to go to all types of lengths to get there hands on it.
