R1. Westspeed 2yo Plate - Scott Embry
Vega Magic was excellent on debut, chasing talented War Chant filly Chantski all the way to the line going down by a length. They booted clear of the rest and as long as he gets some open space from barrier 1 then he should be winning. Never overly keen on the short odds about 2 year olds but he does look a talent. Diamond Tonique looks to be the value runner of the field, $7 about a horse who finished fourth in the Magic Millions. Lord Conrad is one of mine and he finally broke through at start number 11, will relish the distance increases.
5. VEGA MAGIC - 1. DIAMOND TONIQUE - 3. LORD CONRAD
SUGGESTED BET - 5. VEGA MAGIC $50

Many punters will be happy to jump aboard at the $1.40 and take their interest. Lovely multiple addition to multies and happy to play him one out in exotics. While he didn't beat overly much at his return to the track for new trainer Dan Morton he did it emphatically and could have won by a lot more. The Pontiff should find the fence if that's where he wants to be and from there it does look all but over. The Luciani pair at the top of the page are the next best in my opinion and at $14 and $15 respectively I think that Civil Rights and Ye Olde are musts for any trifecta and first 4 bets.
4. HAZZABEEL (NZ) - 2. CIVIL RIGHTS - 1. YE OLDE
SUGGESTED BET - 4. HAZZABEEL (NZ) $100
I love a big call such as the Fuschia Bandana to win the Belmont Sprint, Hyperion and Strickland Stakes treble and I'm happy to call it here, Zarantz could become the next big staying star in WA. Not saying he'll win a Perth Cup or anything like that but he will rise through the grades very quickly and pick off these easy ones. Happy to take anything over about $2.10 which is where I have him priced. Lucy to release the breaks at the 600 and Zarantz to cruise past in second gear. Balmaya and Drive West look the best of the rest to fill the holes for exotic players.
2. ZARANTZ - 4. BALMAYA - 5. DRIVE WEST
SUGGESTED BET - 2. ZARANTZ $100
Happy to play in this 3 year old 1400m event. I think Top Show at her best is better than most of these. Forgiving the last start effort in the Guineas when I think her wheels were spinning on a wet track. Bit of rain about for the next 48 hours but by Saturday I'm hoping the track is playing nicely and she can bounce back to her best. Drawn 7 should allow Lucy Warwick to settle back in the field and unleash her electric turn of foot. At around $5 I think she is a very nice eachway play. Star Bay owes me absolutely nothing having backed the big bay 'orse at his past 2 midweek victories, should position up outside Muskets at Dawn and get a nice run on speed. Muskets at Dawn is a perennial place getter and should find the fence ease enough from barrier 6. Again happy to risk Red Ora. Having a real crack at the early quaddie: 1,5 / 4 / 2 / 1,3,4,6,7 - $100 = 10x
4. TOP SHOW - 7. STAR BAY - 3. MUSKETS AT DAWN
SUGGESTED BET - 4. TOP SHOW $20 x $30
Thought Rule to Wyn was going to be a special on Wednesday before they scratched in order to save for Saturday. I think that decision should pay dividends and expect Rule to Wyn to be too strong. First-up victory over 1000m was huge and then second-up settled way to far back in a race where Madassa was able to control the tempo and skip away. That form looks far superior to the others here and I'm happy to be aboard the Universal Ruler filly. Castle Retreat is the value horse in my opinion. I've had a little on, heavily places bias at $13, thought that was over the odds. Awkwardly drawn in barrier 10 but on my speed map gets into the three wide train with cover. Beats many of these on class. Volkoff is yet to hit her straps and is better than she's showing.
3. RULE TO WYN - 1. CASTLE RETREAT - 5. VOLKOFF
SUGGESTED BET - 3. RULE TO WYN $25 x $25
Not a race I am keen at all to be involved it. It's a real grab a Millers and sow the wallet shut kind of race for me. Anything could win, apart from Bar Dreaming and Champagnelifestyle. The other 9 will all be in my quaddie and theres nothing much separating them at all. Lack lustre event and a very, very evenly graded bunch of mares. Pants on Friar won first up for the Durrant stable over 1400m last preparation, she could do it again. Bayella is in form, however primarily in provincial grade. Beaten just over 3 lengths Wink and a Nod reads well. Youknowthedrill hails from the premier WA yard so must be respected from the inside barrier.
3. PANTS ON FRIAR - 5. SHEZA SCANDAL - 9. YOUKNOWTHEDRILL
3 year old Rebel King deserves a listed success against his name and I do think that the 2015 Beaufine is the race for him. Looks perfectly placed by the McAuliffe team off a 4 week freshen-up after looking a tad flat last start. Drawn absolutely perfectly in barrier 5 and gets the services of Magic Jordan, WA's next big thing and 2016 leading apprentice, I've called it - watch your back Lucy. Has a brilliant 1000m record and loves Belmont Park, long live the King. Onadowntowntrain has been ridden upside down his past few and if O'Donnell lets him jump and run and roll along out in front then he may just be able to steal it. Settle Strada looked like he had returned to his very best before putting in a shocker. Is definitely well weighted at 55kg.
8. REBEL KING - 7. ONADOWNTOWNTRAIN - 9. SETTLE STRADA
SUGGESTED BET - 8. REBEL KING $50 x $50
Putting Surpark on top in the last, effort behind talented Gangemi gelding Windswept was excellent and his Belmont Park 1400m form is simply sensational. 3 wins and 5 minors at Belmont Park and 4 wins and 6 minors over 1400m. His numerical form this preparation reads 1-2-1-0-3 and the 10th behind The Dankster he was caught 3 and 4 deep without cover for the duration and only went down by 5 lengths when eased down late. Finished alongside Son of Something last start and that reads well. Zuccheros will settle last and be running on strongly but seems to lack that killer blow. The Dankster is over a month between runs and has had issues so while his form is faultless I'm happy to risk him. Quaddie Crack: 1,3 / 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,12 / 8 / 2,4,8,11 - $36 = 100%
2. SURPARK - 11. ZUCCHEROS - 4. THE DANSKTER
SUGGESTED BET - 2. SURPARK $25 x $25
Race 4: (6) MR MANKINI - Tips (Both Fronts)
Always have to find one at odds, and I think I have one in Calabria Joe. Back to 1000m I think they are trying to work him out, faded over 1300m last start and didnt do much over 1200m the start before. Has trialled a few times and last trial won in quickish time, so I think the drop back to 1000m, claim for Lucy and drawn well, gives it a chance at $17+
