    @Tivers. I agree with the gist of what you are saying. I don't really classify remixing a song or using a sample as music. Peking Duck for example just use guests for vocals-not sure who writes the lyrics. But where is the real music like the RHCP? That music has stood the test of time-I'm not sure about modern music?

    The thing is tivers they are voting on songs that are a constant on the play list throughout the year. Whilst I agree in part with what you , slip and others are saying there really isn't any suprises about the content of the 100.

    Kramer musicians are running out of ideas that's why there is so much sampling going on. RHCP's last few albums have been lame predictable and boring so probably not the best example.

    Is it any wonder Frusciante quit the band? The last time he wan't part of the band they made the forgettable One Hot Minute. I rest my case. He was part of the creative force that made the band great. I hated Stadium Arcadium and I haven't bothered with their latest release but their older stuff is first rate.

    Anyone listening in on Monday to their special guest mentalist would be interested to know that he actually correctly picked the winner on Monday and placed in a sealed envelope. It was opened this morning with the correct answer! Worth having a listen to the rest of the podcast from Monday.

    caught a bit of that this morning , cheers for posting the link H-Bomber , have been thinking lately you could not find a better radio station than the Js , will agree there is a lot of shit played there but seriously no other body has done more for Australian music than this crew , unearthed has seen the birth of many bands to go on to bigger things , absolutely chaff at the bit for Like a version on Fridays just brilliant stuff ,

    Great mix of personalities I started listening in the Mikey and Helen , Flaco and Sandman era and I don't feel comfortable listening to anything else but !

    An insult to PJ mentioning her and CB in the same sentence. Seen some strange shit in my time, but the adoration that Barnett gets has me farked.

    I'll cop a leader of their genre winning the count even if it aint my bag (ie King Kunta, Thrift Shop). But Hoops is just shit, completely unremarkable. Will barely be remembered in 5 years.

    No offense @Tivers but when Powderfinger or Bernard Fanning would get number 1 my mates and I at a party would sigh and be disappointed that 'At the drive in' or 'the streets' didn't get the 1 spot. Don't like that much edm at all (alison wonderland excluded as I'm planning to marry her). Only good 'The Rubens' song in my opinion is 'Lay it Down'
    Just glad Kid Kunta didn't get it.

    @Tivers I've only heard it recently but I wouldn't have had a problem if  Marcus Marr/Chet Faker's 'The Trouble With Us' had been #1(it polled 6th). That's the problem with people voting for multiple songs-it may be a consensus but if people chose just one song would the result be different? It seems to allow mediocre songs to be grouped with more deserving ones.

    Last few years I haven't experienced anyone who was excited at the result.
