And Ross Olivieri's last stand, announced his retirement post race, with the Oaks Trophy,  the only major previously absent from the trophy room, now on the shelf. Been at it an awful long time.

I don't know the man. But WOWEE. What a wonderful career,
I used to drive past his place every Friday heading back home from the big smoke. Then listen on the radio him winning all the early races.
    Enjoy retirement Mr Olivieri

I got to know Ross when he moved to Sydney with Edgleys horses and Colin Olsen..Trained out on the Lowlands at Richmond. Countess Gina , Smooth Dave,, Gliding Princess  just to name a few.. Took a truck load to to the Brisbane carnival in 83 . Smooth Dave sold to Mcmullen won 9 straight. Great trainer .. Is Emma the go to now??

I think  his retirement is linked to the cost of workers comp...Jemma's premiums will be much lower as she has never had a claim whereas Ross has had multiple workers comp claims and that pushes his premium beyond stupid. Similar to David Harrison's situation I believe. Harness workers are calculated at the same rate as thoroughbreds  when realistically, the danger is far less. Jemma becomes the trainer, Ross becomes the foreman and the owners don't get slugged excessive daily rates due to increasing workers comp premiums.

So he hasnt retired at all - basically a paper shuffle of titles to keep the costs down

Just  like the horses are in Aidens name - but Andrew would be having alot to do with running the stable

    Jay Jay
Aldo’s last 100 metres on Friday very reminiscent of a Fred Kersley in his later
years in nursing M.S home ?

Don’t think you’re giving Aiden enough credit here
