Will Maldivian win?

West Australian Racing

It's a Caulfield Cup.

It's a distance he's never ventured over.

He beat one suited horse last start in his virgin Group 1 victory.

Yet the world says he's a good thing.

Is he?

He will go the journey. Last one to pull up last start. Looked like he was looking for a bit more ground.

looks the goods but looks can be deceiving...no good thing and i wouldnt take the 2.40 at all personally.Much more pressure tomorrow vs 7 horse field in the yalumba last run.Is a deserved favourite on two booming runs, however MB at $11 much better value and suited at 2400.

Caulfield Cup holds a Quartet Jackpot which should ensure a more massive pool than normal.

Plenty of mug money will go into this with people taking birthday numbers, and general silly combinations in the hope of a lotto style collect. I also generally believe the higher TAB numbers get overbet and the lower TAB numbers forgotten about in these big fields. With some of the topweights having little chance and many of the bottom weights having a good chance its the perfect chance to throw a few hundred after a decent collect.

I also think Maldivian is pretty much a good thing to win the race which makes it a touch easier.

    My selections -
    1st - 6
    2nd - 5,13,14,16,18
    3rd - s2, 3,9,10,11,12,17
    4th - s3, 7
    1/2 unit $250

other options are to flexi it up for smaller stake or take another bet with Maldivian in 2nd spot.

    Good Luck all

Definately wouldn't be taking the $2.40. Would expect there will be a bit more pressure applied earlier--this is a Caufield Cup, not the WFA sit and sprint events that he has been going around in lately. Last time he was challenged he got rolled by Douro Valley, who at $11 represents good value. Have taken the $51 on offer for Tawqeet--reckon they have been having 'practice runs' with him this campaign--if the track is the dead 4 they say it is he will run very well
