HOW HARD DO THEY WORK?

East Coast Racing
very bloody hard..just take dean yendall for example. he rode at caulfield on sat. horsham on sunday, the 'bool yesterday and has 1 ride at kyneton today. he's not the only one, there's egan, hefel, bates, meech and many more.
they must have zilch social life and any time at home would be complete relaxation.

ps sydney does not seem to have the same work ethic. they appear to have two sets of jockeys, one for the metro. meetings and one for the provincials.

munching on a sambo i did the following:
melb to horsham = 300k, to the bool 250k and kyneton a leisurely 90k
how the pharque do they do it? hire a light plane?

They drive Falcon. The travel kills, sometimes they get a lift but mostly they drive .
     Its a Gruelling life .
There is little time for trackwork

Very tough, they earn every bloody cent they make I really admire them, i still think about Dean Holland th3 champion taken far too soon, he was also travelling far and wide to make a good earn for his family.

Just read another story about Michael Rodd remember him? Top jockey of years past who has been absent for over 2 years with debilitating concussion issues poor bloke.
Given the all clear by the doctors/specialists he returns to the races on Saturday in Brissy, wish him all the best.
Was thinking though geez they love what they do hey, surely by now he must have considered an assistant training role or something else in the industry instead.

    They are sporting heroes jockeys.

Lewis German , I don't know Falcon.  He rode a couple of winners.

how's this...damian lane, trackwork flemington, then off to moonee valley to ride zaki, then off to kyneton to ride the first winner.
reckon he'd be off to the cot right after a lettuce leaf dinner.

Lane finished the marathon in 2hrs55mins, I've completed multiple marathons but mine are always in the 4hours and a little change mark, then I'm 50+ so I'll take the finish line as a positive outcome  :))

There are quite a few that need to do more form. Whether they do it themselves or employ someone to do it.
Been watching a lot of midweek racing past month and boy oh boy there are some very ordinary jockeys out there. They just don't do form or plainly don't give a ****.

  • thefalconthefalcon    19,996 posts
the amount of travelling those 2nd. tier jockeys do is mind boggling. they must travel hundreds of k's a week, often going to 5,6 or even 7 tracks a week.
say they have 4 rides a meeting at say 5 thats about 20 a week @ about $200 a ride is @$4 grand, not bad money without riding a placed horse.
no wonder they'd be somewhat weary after days 3,4,5,6 & 7.
the exceptions would be yendell and hefel.....and probably a few more.
    name a few JimmyPop....

Jamie Kah cleared of wrong doing via the white powder saga.....she wasn't aware of someone taking a video of it...oh so that makes it OK....fair dinkum.

The decision is surely on the nose
  • thefalconthefalcon    19,996 posts
i'd like to hear the reasoning and what other jocks thought of the decision.
  • spinkingspinking    3,748 posts
Or up it Slip. Falcon you can read the reasoning in Voodoos post above. If that’s what they call it now
  • thefalconthefalcon    19,996 posts
yep i read voodoos post. but what i cannot understand is that she was definately divvying up what looks like cocaine. caught redhanded i'd say.
anyhow the matter is now closed, she got off without a scratch. weird....

Just asking for a friend, if I get caught lets say juicing a horse on video but I didn't know it was being filmed and certainly would not have granted consent, can I have the charges thrown out ?

Except \there was no evidence that she took cocaine herself and a drug test showed her to be clear.

  • VoodooVoodoo    1,238 posts
2 to 3 days with the help of a diuretic and it can be clear from a urine sample I have been advised.
End of the day it was beyond stupid and she was entitled to criticism and investigation by the authorities.
Not sure I can honestly say she should have got off.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me,I know she has hot herself into a lot of strife,to start with the Clayton Douglas split up,then the Air BNB then of course the latest incident,of course media love this its Jamie Kah,if an unknown nothing, just hoping surely she has learnt from her mistakes, then you have Damian Lane,ok JMac apart from the 18 months, just go about there job, apart from the media waiting for them to make a little glitch(Parasites they are)she is so talented,so fingers crossed she stays clear of any controversies.
