The first thought that came to my mind when I saw the field was that "The Fish" is riding Kid Choisir and not Waratah's Secret.

Now I could be wrong in thinking this so I stand to be corrected but I would have thought that with Paul Harvey serving time Jason W would have been offered the ride again on Waratah's Secret considering he rode him in the 2 races before Harvey got back on.

If this is the case then it might be a wise idea to look into the reason why Fish has ellected to ride Kid Choisir over Waratah's Secret. It could well be an indication of where he thinks both horses are currently sitting at this stage of their campaigns.

Waratah's Secret has lost absolutely nothing in terms of a quality jockey with Shaun O'Donnell riding him and we all know the knack he has of winning on a horse the first time he gets legged aboard for a race.

It would have been a tough call for Jason to make so I really hope he gets rewarded for it on Saturday.

Harvey is always going to get back onto Waratah's secret when he is available.
I would say Fish has stuck with a ride he has been promised for the campaign. Donger doesnt have another regular ride, so would have jumped at the opportunity on Waratah's.

    All speculation ofcourse....

Reckon Divs has got it in one Kid C is Fishs ride as Waratahs is Harveys

did some quick form and looks like a dangerous day outside BARAKEY and WARATAH'S SECRET.

REBEL CALL could be value, top weight for both runs back, 1st up run was huge and showed signs he could stay imo, never got a chance 2nd up, but a very tough race

WATERMANS BAY was a nice trial

WESTERN JEWEL drops plenty of weight and gains w pike

I love the Waratah, but I'll be on Grand Nirvana second up at 1400 WFA, and the price will be good too.

Waratah's Secret, Barakey and King Saul. Play up your winnings after backing Bauer in the Queen Elizabeth at flemington.

I have to agree with you Semi that King Saul is the one to beat in the Fareitha Stakes. But having said that the horse would want to make sure he puts his best hoof forward on Saturday because if there are any chinks in his armour the likes of Rons Call, Rebel Call and Shining Knight amongst others are certainly more than capable of denying him a hat trick of wins.

    Hoops tips for those interested:

    RACE 1 ?BUILDEX CLIMASEAL 5 PLATE 1000m

No. 9 SPICE AGAIN. The Simon Miller yard is looking to keep intact it?s 100% record in this season?s juvenile events and they look to be a huge chance with the first starter, Spice Again. She is a full sister to the stakes winner, Single Spice, and like her older sibling, she looks like a natural runner. In her recent 600m trial she exploded from the machine, went straight to the front and won comfortably. The blinkers go on for her debut and I think she will take a stack of running down. The clear second pick for me is Fuddle Dee Duddle. Her debut behind the very smart Miss Solis was excellent and from her good draw I think she?ll stalk the favourite and have the last crack at her. Of the rest, Steel Business has run two solid races and Anywhere Express has been asked for little in her trials.

    Numbers ? 9, 5, 1, 7

RACE 2 ? LEDGE EQUIPMENT FINANCE HANDICAP 2100m

No. 4 MR MOET. In what looks like a fairly even type of staying race, I?m going for the Adam Durrant trained, four-year-old gelding, Mr Moet. He will be looking for his second win inside four days after getting the job done on Cup Day. This is a better class of event but I think he is a progressive stayer who will make the grade. Jappaloop is shooting for a winning hat trick after a couple of dominant wins over 1800m. He does possess a turn of foot at the end of his races which is always a big advantage in staying events. Come Party didn?t have the best of luck at his most recent outing but he still found the line nicely. From his good draw, he should get all the favours and be in the finish. Senhor Da Gama over-raced badly last time, he should go straight to the front in this and give them all something to catch.

    Numbers 4, 3, 5, 2

    RACE 3 ? COLOURBOND HANDICAP 1200m

No. 3 WATERMANS BAY. Three-year-old sprint which appears to be a fairly even event on paper. I?m happy to be on Watermans Bay who is first up from a spell. He showed plenty of ability in his first preparation, starting on three occasions for two wins. His only defeat was also a solid performance as he drew the outside gate, settled last and made plenty of late ground. His recent barrier trial was very good viewing and I think if he can be within striking distance when they straighten up, he will be very hard to hold out. I liked Full Clip last week and he won well over 1000m. Michael Grantham rode him positively and he was just too good. He goes up to 1200m and this is a collectively better field but still he has definite winning claims. Final Cut?s first up effort was much better than it reads on paper; he was set a task after tracking wide for the entire course. With a bit more luck he could be the big value runner. Reign Of Terror is a nice type. He will probably want further than 1200m to show his best but I think he will be strong late.

    Numbers 3, 1, 4, 5

    RACE 4 ? KEN GOOD HANDICAP 1200m

No. 6 BARAKEY. It?s a highlight on any card when this emerging local sprinting star, Barakey, goes around. He was breathtaking at his most recent win, leading and winning under a handbrake but still running a blistering time. He leads and just wins! Mabel Grace was outstanding first up, finishing powerfully into second spot behind Barakey. She should fill the quinella spot again. I have a lot of time for Answers Are. This race isn?t ideal but I think she should be included in all multiples. Our Ol? Fella will get back but could be the one storming late.

    Numbers 6, 2, 7, 3

    RACE 5 ? $80,000 CMI CUSTOM FABRICATION ? FAIRETHA STAKES 1400m

No. 3 RON?S CALL. This race is traditionally a very important lead up to the W.A. Guineas and this year, as per usual, a high class field of three-year-olds will assemble. I?m a huge fan of Ron?s Call and I think he can make it four wins from as many starts this preparation. His last start win was as dominant as you will see. He drew the outside, settled back and wide, crept forward approaching the straight and then careered away from his rivals late. I think he will eat the 1400m and from barrier 2, I wouldn?t be surprised to see him lead, if he does they will find it extremely hard to get over the top of him. No knock at all on King Saul. He could not have been more impressive in his Belgravia Stakes victory. He appeared to be labouring early in the straight but then just dropped a gear to come clear for an easy win. From barrier 3, he gets a gun run and looks the main rival to my top pick. Shining Knight is an impressive type. He was dominant on debut but the tempo beat him last time. He should be the one finishing strong out wide late. Venetian Prince has been luckless in his two runs back from a spell. Hopefully he can find some clear galloping and finish powerfullu. What a cracking race.

    Numbers ? 3, 2, 6, 9

    RACE 6 - $200,000 WAROA ? LEE STEERE STAKES 1400m

No. 4 WARATAH?S SECRET. I think it?s close to impossible to tip against Waratah?s Secret in this feature event. He posted a much deserved win in the Prince Of Wales Stakes over 1200m which was run under the same weight scale and although it was a close finish, he always had them covered. I think he?s now crying out for the 1400m and provided he jumps well, he should lead and win. Kid Choisir was outstanding in the Prince Of Wales Stakes, motoring home late. If he can reproduce that performance, he can play a part. Grand Nirvana hit the line very nicely first up and you would think he will appreciate the step up to 1400m. Ranger nosed out Waratah?s Secret at his most recent outing but he meets him on a horrendous weight scale so it would be hard to imagine he could beat him again.

    Numbers 4, 7, 1, 5

    RACE 7 - $80,000 CMI ? ASCOT GOLD CUP 1800m

No. 9 WESTERN JEWEL. A capacity line up will face the starter in this crucial Railway Stakes and Perth Cup lead up event. Western Jewel is simply bursting to win a race. Her three runs back this campaign have all been exceptional, fast finishing efforts, particularly her last couple over the mile. William Pike goes on, she drops substantially in weight, steps up to 1800m and has drawn a gate. I think she will storm all over these in the straight and post a much deserved victory. Mega Steel is in career best form. He was very game in the Asian Beau Stakes, leading at a quick tempo and battling on to beat all bar the runaway winner, Luckygray. The weight is a concern but he should find the front and is the one to rundown. No knock at all on Gum Nut Guru, this is his acid test but he continues to amaze with his durability and consistency. Leave him out at your own peril.

    Numbers ? 9, 1, 8, 12

    RACE 8 ? SRG CORPORATE HANDICAP 1200m

No. 10 SOLSAY. I?m pretty confident we can finish the day with a winner. Solsay was outstanding first up; he drew wide, did a power of work to find the front and gave a big kick but just couldn?t see it out after spending too many petrol tickets. It should be a completely different story on Saturday as he looks to be the only leader and he should find the front without too much difficulty. If he is then rated at a nice tempo, I think he should be able to give his rivals the slip at the turn and post his third win from just six starts. Thunderluv?n is undefeated in his three starts and looks a nice type. He does step up to the 1200m for the first time but he is giving all indications that it will suit. Best Feature thundered home at her last start; that followed a disappointing first up effort. She will probably get back in running but can peel off mean sectionals when on song.

Race 3. Was super impressed by Watermans Bay first two wins before drawing wide at 3rd run and running a respectable 5th beaten only 2.3 lengths. Think he is promising.

Race 4. Well it should be track work for Barakey and he will be winning. Trifecta 6/2,7/2,7.

Race 5. Ron"s Call and King Saul dominate the market here and deservedly so, both have been super impressive to date. However I'm willing to give Shining Knight another chance. Being by Blackfriars the step up to the 1400m will suit. He is going to need some luck from the gate but the genius of Pike you couldn't rule him slotting in just off the pace. If we can secure 6 or 7 dollars I think he is a good punt.

Race 7. Knightlike was kind to me when racing last time in albeit at Belmont Park and over longer. He owes me nothing so I'm happy to have a little on at around $15.00. I think he can run well tomorrow and at the moment would be my tip for the Perth Cup. Pike rides the stablemate Western Jewel is the logical pick on form.
