Interesting how it is not always the winner that records the fastest.
I didn't guess that it would be sub 32 though!
all those under 33 seconds, and it should demonstrate that anybody that takes sections on face value, needs another think.

i never actually use the times personally, because on their own they are worse than useless.
for instance the dark target race was obviously not the horses that were responsible for the time, it was more than likely the weather, and it may be nowhere near MY fastest,although it may be, as i don't normally check those things, and they are fluid anyway.
it also means that they are not measuring the distance or they would have know it was crapola.

I know on big days toilet ques, power outage , tote overload are a problem but a sectuional timing device at the 600m????
This must surely put a dent into data such as Carey's sectional times record.
Maybe they could enlist someone skilled in these things, to create a "hand timed" record of each runner in the Summer Scorcher.
RWWA and PR needs to ensure this is fixed and not repeated.

the official is faster than the reality.
there is no absence of individual sections for me.
i know mine are right because there are another 8 races that day to use as reference points.
thus it is easy to fill in the blanks.

there are several people i help, just because i am a kind hearted soul! =))
even to the point of giving free software i have written, although not the real special stuff.
enables him to have a free database of wa racing, with some bells and whistles.
for instance it can find the pars for any track in a matter of seconds going back years.
so he can always have the speed figures calculated via the latest pars.
the shortcoming though(among others) is that i don't keep him updated with the class figures that make the times stuff better.
anyway....
capture the video to the computer.
free software like videodub.
check all races every meeting, and you soon become proficient at it.
then you will end up with a constant difference between official and you.
it thus becomes simple to see when a time does not fit the pattern.
don't compress the video,or that can possibly stuff it up.
accept you won't always get it exactly right, but +- .04 is not a big deal with how i do things.
then when you have all times, they are not much use, unless you have the understanding to go with it, not just for the overall times but for the way the races are paced., which is more important.
so to cut it short, it means if you want to be good at something, you need to work hard at it.
racing is no different to any other job.

With your list of fastest sectionals - and the thread makes reference to one race in which the entire field had run sub 33.00 - was this an abberation / wrongly positioned unit or start - or was it simply one of those races?
PS within 0.05 sec - what was Exellorad's last 600m ?
