That's tragic, will be a long time out when you break both.

    Disappointing circumstances.

feel sorry for renee the horse in question had a history of playing up in mounting yards ..the trainer said to me at the races the reason it has not been gelded if because you never know if he is a champion ,,breeding stock inmind ,,,it really annoys me how some ppl handle there horses ,,and punching them in the head seems to work apperently,, the jock has payed the price in this case which i believe should have been handled differently by the stewards ..just gotta read the race book

The racebook and the studbook show that the horse is a gelding. The racebook on the 15/12 shows it as a colt. It would seem that gelding it hasn't mellowed it yet.

i have to get this of my chest as i was appalled by the actions of the stewards in charge..i was standing directly behind renees mount when it flipped over backwards ..i saw the horse land on her and heard the crack of bones as did many others ..i directy ran over to the cheif steward an said don't let them out yet as she has broken her leg and needs an ambulance..to which he responded let them go ..we will get another one ???maybe in perth yes where you have manned stations but not in the country..meenwhile renee is laying on the ground with no assiatance ,,screaming out with pain
after a few minutes the on course ambulance crew were called over to assist
and thankfully help was on hand ,after around 20 minute the called ambulance arrived ,i would have thought the welfare off miss forrest should have been a priorty as appose to starting times off a race and thank godness for craig staples using common sense and telling the other jocks to return to the stalls from behind the barriers as he was aware to the seriousness of the situation right from the start

wow..that sheds a different light on things..and this could nearly be put under the other thread of "Reporting Stupidity of Stewards"

So she was laying injured in the mounting yard and the steward in charge let the horse go onto the track???? I'm sure he will use the justification that he was making sure the horses were on the track to remove the danger from the mounting yard...i have a feeling from what you have reported a better order would have been for the jockey's to dismount and the horses removed from the mounting yard whilst she is attended to, cos no matter how serious the situation was, there was going to be a delay at that point...

Just another story of our stewards not having the ability to read a situation...even when prompted on what to do!!!!

BTW... Renee has ridden for us and she is a really wonderful young lady with a really good attitude....to break both those bones would indicate to me that she will be on the sidelines for a very long time..i hope the jockey's association gets behind her and gives her all the assistance that she needs.....

I think the jockeys association also needs to take the issue up with RWWA as a real safety matter. Surely Rennee' and all riders' welfare supecedes all else....?

Symptomatic of the manner in which racing is run here, the whole thing needs a big overhaul. Stewards who are blind/ incompetent, take your pick, horses being allowed to run when they shouldn't be allowed to start what chance did anyone who backed morning mist on Cup day etc) shortcuts taken regarding safety etc.
