apprentice C.PARNHAM. this kid will make it!

been watching him over recent months. for a 3kg kid, he is well above average. he looks to have it all going on and his best asset - patience. i saw him win a race last week over a middle distance, where he settled at the rear and hooked out with a perfectly timed run to win. he isnt your tupical "jump and run claimer". balance and all the rest of it looks to be there too.

tipping he will carve up WA racing.

thoughts? has he got a wrap on him in the industry?

    Does look ok but its against my punting rules to back new kids ,i wish him all the best he will get enough rides thats for sure

    Great to hear some people now saying the kid goes ok, a few months ago he was getting knocked here. They were saying about taking 50 rides to ride a winner etc. He is only 15 years old and with a terrific attitude towards racing. he certanly will make it in my opinion. well done and keep it up Chris.

    Good young fellow who appears to have the right attitude. Has ridden for us and comes across as good young people should.

    ........It's one thing to be born into a position of privilege, it is another to make the most of it...

    At this stage it looks like Chris is heading in the right direction and we wish him well.

    Could not agree more with your 2nd line there Rio. Just because the opportunities appear to be there for Chris it doesn't necessarily mean things will automatically fall into place without the hard work and continual improvement required on his behalf. But having spoken to him quite a few times before he seems like a very polite young man with a good head on his shoulders so I certainly wish for him continued success.

    - The Continuance of the Parnham Dynasty.
    Bred to be good - racing trainers and jockeys on both sides for several generations,
    educated to be good - with Nifty and Ses' ever watchful.
    attitude to be good - same as his brothers.

    another winner coming from well back and taking off around them. XAARABLAZE.

    horse was wayward in the straight, kid demonstrated an ability to use the stick in both hands and was pretty tidy changing whip hands. left hand a bit weaker, but thats ok.

    going really well from what i can tell. did someone say he is only 16 yrs old?

    it's a ridiculous call, at the same stage he is probably better but the fact all he has ever wanted to do is be a jockey, sports never interested him at school, Stevie was a champion at tennis, Brad was a gun at Dancing could have been the next Nureyev. All Chris wanted to do is ride. The winners will come as there is no better conditioner of a apprentice than NDP,

    M Grantham had some record as a apprentice (will never be equalled) in 1 season....Leading ridier/apprentice Kal, leading rider/apprentice Grt Southern area, Leading apprentice provincal, leading apprentice city, also throw in Geraldton, yet his brother couldn't steer a volkswagon

    If Nev and Carolyn have anything to do with it he will turn out to be a great young man like his brothers. They are very nice genuine people whose boys are a credit to them. Personally I think he should get some runs on the board and have a crack in the east. What I've seen so far impresses me.

    Rex, you are telling lies. I had another read of the thread you are talking about and I can't find a solitary remark "knocking" Chris Parnham. Have another read......

    best time to learn how to eat with the pack is before you become comfortable in your own back yard...go now boy and find out what it is all about...Use D.Lane as a mentor..no short cuts, but he'll be able to pick him up when he gets knocked down...Succeed or fail, the lessons will be a building block for the rest of his life, not just his riding career..

    I couldn't see Chris going to melb, he has a great mentorship here. One if the leading trainers, two hard working brothers who have their heads screwed on, a stable full of horses to ride and mums cooking.
    I'd say he'd be a very much required part of the team.
