Patinack Fire Sale for Magic Millions National
Breednet - Media Release - Friday, 12 April 2013

The Magic Millions National Sale has received an unprecedented boost with news today that the auction will include the quality packed Patinack Farm Unreserved Reduction Sale.

Some 470 lots ranging from weanlings to present day Group One winning race fillies and mares will go under the hammer at the country's premier breeding stock sale.

The 470 lots from Patinack Farm will be on top of hundreds of outstanding entries received from other owners, breeders and vendors for the auction which will commence on May 27.

Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said the newly announced reduction sale would be a highlight.

"It will be a great opportunity for prospective buyers with an outstanding line up of horses of all ages to go under the hammer," Cox said. "From proven stakes winning fillies to beautifully bred weanlings and yearlings the sale has a great cross section of stock."

"Without doubt it will be the most significant racehorse sale ever held in Australia," Cox added.

Troy Palmer, Chief Executive of the Tinkler Group, said the reduction sale was the next step in the sale of Patinack Farm.

"The Patinack Farm operation, with world class properties on the Gold Coast and in the Hunter Valley, remains for sale on a walk in walk out basis and in the meantime we will be offering a draft of horses including the entire racing stable of horses."

Highlights of the Patinack Farm draft will include Group One winners Nechita (pictured Steve Hart) and Pear Tart as well as other stakes winners Kneeling, Longport, Pane in the Glass and Real Stolle.

Among the broodmares catalogued are Trewornan (dam of Rock to Rock), Maha Chakri (dam of Whittington), Lilakyn (stakes winning three quarter sister to Rock 'n' Pop), Imana (G3 winner), To Be Surprised (three quarter sister to Exceed and Excel), Loving New (G1 winner) and Frankel's extremely close relation, the Sadler's Wells mare Endless.

Patinack Farm sires Casino Prince, Husson, Murtajill and Raheeb are well presented with yearlings and weanlings in the sale as well as others including More Than Ready, Medaglia d'Oro, Sebring, Bel Esprit, Big Brown, Testa Rossa, Manduro, Exceed and Excel, High Chaparral and Stratum.

The make up of the draft will be as follows:

24 weanlings
134 yearlings
202 racehorses (including 101 2yos, 73 3yos and 28 older racing prospects)
110 broodmares

Magic Millions will issue a more comprehensive preview of the draft in the coming days.

This will be a fantastic chance for the WA industry to show their intent for the future. The Patinack draft added to the already quality offering of brood mares and weaners yearlings and racehorses provides a unique opportunity for us here in the west to add quality bloodlines and racing stock to our state. I feel if participants don't take the chance to source stock from a sale like this then the future is bleak. Sure it is not easy to buy something of quality but the chance is there now to do something. We are only too happy to discuss any propositions or queries you might have regarding this sale. Just call me any time and I will try and help. My interest above all is the development of racing and breeding in this state WA

I have been asked to represent a buyer from yesterday at this sale, a new client for me. If anyone would like some representation on the Gold Coast at this sale, which should have 600 plus opportunities, I would only be too happy to do so.

You can contact me via private message here or directly on 0411 227 222.

I think the last minute addition of the Patinack Farm lots, has put back the production of the catalogue. But it shouldn't be too long coming out

It is definately a good chance to get some rare blood into WA. If someone has access to a Tesio system, they'll be able to tell you how good that cross is on paper @Radman

not much happening in the first 5 removes really only n/d 4x5 few lines tracing to PRINCEQUILLO through ROUND TABLE and SIR GAYLORD
    Ancestor duplications: Northern Dancer 4m,4m x 5m Damascus 4f,5f x
with big brown being a 1800m horse and spirited one being a 1000m-1600m horse think it would be a good miler

I see Tinkler interviewed on Saturday saying he expected a full sale of his operations to be finalised in the next 3 weeks.

Not sure if thisi will include the stock presently set down for MM sale.

    It does, yes.
Will only be going through MM if not sold prior
  • lamelame    1,757 posts
yes it would mean the mm sale could be off, was only going through if a buyer couldn't be found for patinack as a whole
  • TiversTivers    7,720 posts
MM sale will still be on, just will be a lot of WD's
  • DamienWyerDamienWyer    7,677 posts
I hope they get it resolved, sometime next week the catalogue will be released and the work of going through it all will begin. I’m told by David Housten there is 700 yearlings alone. That is a lot to get through whatever method you use to try and edit.
