Belmont R1. Belmont Oaks Ladies Day Luncheon 6/7 Handicap - Matt Rigby

Ill stick with Terkel because I believe he's the best horse here however, if Pure Adrenalin, Tax A Million and Union City kick through as they should, there's a chance he will be trapped wide. Having said that, if he gets to the breeze, he'll just dominate them. Tax A Million should be outside the leader and raced well last start, although they got easy early sectionals. He can hang a bit too, so the new rider is a negative. My maddie for third it Twilight Hero, just a spec bet after a year off the scene. No bet race.

2. TERKEL - 1. TAX A MILLION - 7. TWILIGHT HERO

Belmont R2. Westspeed Stayers\' Bonus Handicap - Matt Rigby

Im going to spec on the non winner cum winner here in Cyber Crime. His last two runs were really good although he did find a way to roll over after the perfect run behind Operational last start. The latter is the obvious class here and two runs since the freshen were great. The weight just brings him back to the field here, but the effort last start to sit wide and hang in there was outstanding. Big Attitude is a big chance also, but another non winner. Starlight Lady is the interesting runner. I'd fancy her if she'd had one more run before stepping up to the 2200m.

    6. CYBER CRIME - 2. OPERATIONAL - 5. BIG ATTITUDE

Belmont R3. Westspeed Nursery Handicap - Matt Rigby

Vital Importance has impressed at her last two starts, easily accounting for one of her main rivals again, Yaloginda. The danger I think can be Ihtsahymn, coming off the Sires Produce in better company. The Kersley camp is in form, as is Steven Parnham who has booted home many of his winners of late. Yaloginda can be thereabouts again but I dont think the 1.5kg is enough to turn the tables on the favourite.

    1. VITAL IMPORTANCE - 4. IHTSAHYMN - 3. YALOGINDA

Belmont R4. Happy Birthday Taryn Mcrae Handicap - Matt Rigby

We'll know about 10 minutes into betting whether my pick is on song here. Jestpatim is a class above these in my opinion, but whether or not he is ready or not first up, the market will tell us. He was fat last campaign and was still able to win a similar event first up. Quokka is a speedy little filly and her trials were impressive before being trounced by Smoko. That form will turn out to be very strong. Respect for Top Stuff, but only by virtue of her trainer Adam Durrant. Im not a fan of hers, but first up at the 1000m is the best time to back her. High Limit is a little one paced for the 1000m and Night Train the smokey with blinkers and Donger on, but had her chances for mine.

    1. JESTPATIM - 8. QUOKKA - 9. TOP STUFF

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. JESTPATIM $25 x $25

Belmont R5. Mario Dilena 40th Birthday Handicap - Matt Rigby

Barring bad luck or a dwadling pace, I cant see them being good enough to beat Elite Belle here. Magnifisio has proven he's a Saturday horse on his day and she was bloused out by him first up. When We Were Kings is a soft favourite for mine. His only chance is to lead and get it easy but Torrefly and Dare To Doubt should apply some pressure. Black Magic Miss and Black Romeo the chances to beat Elite Belle, but both will need some pace. There's a chance this race becomes a farce if a few decide not to go forward. Its dangerous, but I'll lay the ears back Elite Belle.

    8. ELITE BELLE - 4. BLACK MAGIC MISS - 5. BLACK ROMEO

SUGGESTED BET: ELITE BELLE $100 WIN

Belmont R6. Macau Handicap - Matt Rigby

This is a great race for the 3yo's. Dream Lifter is my pick, although I think he's a little short at less than $4. His was the better run out of the race won by Hussy By Choice last start. The Hussonet filly is still a real danger in this although I think she will drift by virtue of the 1400m. I still think she will get a good 1400m and be very hard to run down. Silver Speck looks well above average and drops substantially in weight. He had a little up his sleeve in the midweeker. We'll spec bet on Fuddle Dee Duddle. While its impossible to see and eastern states replay these days without paying for it, we'll ignore those runs and go back to her form last summer against our best horses. She's a real threat and the $13 is over the odds.

    4. DREAM LIFTER - 7. SILVER SPECK - 1. FUDDLE DEE DUDDLE

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. FUDDLE DEE DUDDLE $15 x $15

Belmont R7. Crown Perth Handicap - Matt Rigby

I found it hard to split Flag Officer and November Red. Ive settled on the former, simply because his last two runs were good and November Red has only shown us one this campaign. Nonetheless, both will get great runs and carry no weight. Im a little off the form from last weekend. Uncle George was pathetic, Rantorini was just a run and Dark Miss cost me a fortune so I'll be laying her again. Ancient Spell can get the front here and an easy lead and must be a chance, but under double figures is probably a bit short.

Save on November Red at the $9.

    7. FLAG OFFICER - 9. NOVEMBER RED - 5. ANCIENT SPELL

    SUGGESTED BET - 7. FLAG OFFICER $20 x $20

Belmont R8. Golden River Developments Handicap - Matt Rigby

Against my better judgement, I'm going to guess the The Rising can get over from his barrier and not do too much work. Its a real pee into the wind as Dominating and Miss Solis will get a gun run whatever happens and the Flying Pegasus colt will be a sitting duck, but I just think he has the class. Times are Changing will have a lot to do with how this race pans out. I cant make a case for any other runner, except Black Tycoon, whose trial was excellent. Hes never really run over such a short journey. Great race to finish off.

    6. THE RISING - 9. DOMINATING - 8. MISS SOLIS

    SUGGESTED BET - 6. THE RISING $50 x $50

I hope you don't get any splash back on your race 8 prediction Matt :P Hopefully Chris can do what Diamond Dan managed to do on Kerrific last week. Win from the river.

Am a unabashed TheRising fan, but reckon he will use a bit of fuel getting up the bank and onto the racetrack, and Dominating will be there with plenty in the tank to put it away...Sibling rivalry may come in to play on this one too!!!

With a turn of foot that Terkel has, surely a rider of pikes calibre should just relax and let it hit the line, rather than pull it around and bump and cowboy his way around...
