Military Reign - Belgravia Stakes

West Australian Racing
Now nothing against the horse or the owners, but how can a race that remains as a final field, allow a horse that was scratched to become reinstated? Surely once you are scratched you are scratched, unless they open up the nominations again.....which they didn't.
Good luck to the owners, I hope they get a nice big, fat juicy cheque - would be quite ironic if they actually won the race.....could you imagine getting beaten by a horse that had been scratched.

I know nothing in this regard but it was a final field acceptor and a late scratching so I assume it qualifies on that basis, lucky for the owners and stable and good luck to them!

The horse was scratched from the Belgravia on Saturday, the race wasn't/couldn't be run on Saturday, end of the day the horse was scratched from the Saturday running of the race, not the Wednesday running.  In fairness BC4E, all other races will have scratchings on Wednesday morning, so why should this race be any different?

In saying that, this is fair, the extending of noms for the Northerly is unfair, as that race has now changed complexion completely.

Pretty sure they covered it Monday morning on Racing Radio, in saying that because it was Saturday morning, it was back in.

MUST be in the rules somewhere, because what is the difference between scratching Saturday morning, or Thursday morning?  When is the cut off time?  12:01 Saturday morning?  I would have thought the interpretation would be Saturday morning after final scratchings (09:00 so its a late scratching, as opposed to being just a normally scratching?)  But that wan't the case with MR was it?  I thought it was out before 9??

    And why wasn't it
Balloted out of the 3yr old race
as it had already accepted for the Belgravia?!??? Must be good being connected to the special stables!!!

I think they changed the rules a couple years back to allow multiple 3 y/o race nominations without being balloted.  But you nom for an open age race, you go to the bottom?

    But yes, special....

my understanding is a tad different to the top stables.....but the battlers of the industry will struggle on

Doesn't matter now anyway - scratched.
