unless they target it specifically, saxon...which I imagine a few will do.
bit rude asking for contribution from potential interstate winners and placegetters.
its been cropped....the original did not mention boosts to the hotels, restaurants and retail, nor did it mention admission prices.
it has been amended!!

why not put the w/bottom on the same card as one of the other 2.
visitors (excluding connections) may come for 8 days but not 3 bloody weeks...even 8 days is a bit of an ask...

So the media conference that I mentioned last week, then was subsequently delayed, was this today. Unfortunately it wasn't news to anyone within the Industry itself, more for the consumption of the general media who are largely ignorant of our sport, and would take on face value what they were being told.
I wonder who had the final say the in branding of the carnival ? Calling it 'The Masters' is nothing more than confusing. The Masters is a time honored Golf event in Georgia USA, it's also the name of several Tennis Pro tournaments around the World. Finally it is also the name given to a division of World Cycling that is best described as cashed up but over the hill cyclists who love to combine Sunday mornings social rides with racing, and the odd excuse for International travel for events called Gran Fondo's. The World Gran Fondo Championship is in Perth in September by the way.
But I digress. Nothing really changed other than the dates. The money remains the same, the qualification for entrants remain the same. The venue remains the same. There will be a Gr 1 on three consecutive Saturday's but most likely as in the last five years, only two of them could really lay claim to actually being Gr 1's.
So what did I miss ?

I'd normally agree Jordan. But their track recording of messing things up is so good that the confidence of them being able to perform the simplest of tasks has been lost. When I see these sort of promotions by PR, my first thought is "I hope the track holds up" Followed by all these statements are fanciful "10% will come from interstate" WTF did they dream this up from????
Confidence is shot with this mob.

The blog I read on OZ race which is were Divas original post takes you, has been changed to the from the original I read on there yesterday
I'm not one of these guys to sit back and constantly knock fields as I think the more form you do the better you think the fields are but its very hard to get enthusiastic about having a punt when the fields are so small as there is so little value in the markets.
All of the same issues will still be there. Already talk has started regarding which horses are coming over. It's the same every year, and until there is a fundamental shift in the thinking of connections from the East Coast, nothing will ever change.
