Belmont 22/5/21

West Australian Racing
R1- MAROCCHINO picks himself. Is looking to win five straight here and this will be the weakest field of those five. Dominated in front last start in the Eurythmic but looks better suited when not leading and won’t have to here with Saucy Jack engaged. The four runners likely go around in Indian file and he can stalk the leader second and cruise past it whenever Pike pushes the button.

R2- VRANYO was the target of big money on debut but not a lot went right for her. Stepped cleanly before being shuffled back mid race and didn’t look comfortable racing between horses. Immediately tipped out and has trialled nicely for her return. Quiet first trial before a sharp victory with blinkers on in good time. Blinkers on for race day and likely finds the breeze here.

R3- STREET FAIR finally got a second win to his name last start. The way he attacked the line suggests he may be able to go on with it now and the race has already produced two subsequent winners. The step from class one racing to these Westspeed races is very small and he should appreciate the transition to Belmont. The forecasted rain only serves to further his cause.

R4- TRI FOR US is two noses from being undefeated after four starts and looks hard to beat at her first attempt on a Saturday. Won easy two and three back in class three and maiden respectively before a narrow second in a small but select 3yo 0MWLY. She didn’t look to appreciate the walk and sprint home there and stepping to the mile in a race with a bit more speed looks ideal. Draws to get a soft run and looks like winning better races than this in her career.

R5- BRIGHT DIAMOND looks a smart mare resuming. Has won three of her four starts and beaten a number of quality horses. She’s Enchanted, Puckapunyal, Rewrite The Stars, La Vina and Levitate all feature on that list and she tackles a 60+ at her return. Her recent trials have been encouraging and looks to have been purposely saved for Belmont. Pike can slot her wherever there is space for her from the middle draw but she shouldn’t get too far back and there looks enough tempo to bring her right into the race.

R6- Best Bet: TIMELY OUTBURST is undefeated after three with all three wins being over 1000m. Naturally the step straight to 1300 has to be a small query but she looks like she’ll get it easy. Has been doing her best work on the line and running away from them at both starts this time including when beating Material Witness who looks smart. This is her toughest test but she looks like finding the fence for the first time in her career and the sessions progeny swim.

R7- BILLY AIN’T SILLY continues to race well. Won three in a line before tackling 72+ grade for the first time last start when beaten a tiny margin. Was running away from everything bar the winner at the line and faces a very similar field here up another 100m. He looks like leading pretty soft again here and has the blinkers replaced with visors which may help him settle a touch better at 1600.

R8- NEAT ACTION has looked a new horse out at Kalgoorlie winning three from four. His only defeat came when never seeing daylight but has shown a will to attack the line he hadn’t been showing. In these finals races feel it’s generally good to find a horse that is genuine and can put themselves on speed. He fits that build and from the draw shouldn’t get stuck without cover. With those things in his favour is worth a go at double figures.

R9- ANGELIC MISS has put in two good runs from as many starts this prep. Was chasing a frenetic tempo first up and was a massive effort to get as close as she did considering before really letting rip from the back last start for a good win. Stays in the same grade, gets an extra 100m and gets to Belmont which she should appreciate as she can produce a sustained turn of foot down the longer straight. Gets some tempo here and if they’re making ground by the last she’ll be hard to hold out.

Get some early with Flying Missile should continue on her winning way hopefully.

Mid meeting i think Puli can roll the fav will work out on the day which saver strategy to apply either a quinella or back both so i don't lose on the race.

In the provincial final i think Super Ex can run a big race at double figure odds hopefully first go at 1400 he will go well, made a good fist of the 1300 when winning at Northam.

A watch on Trump This too as Pateman steers this time, jockey change may or may not help this enigmatic galloper who gets into near hopeless positions.Belmont may suit though and see him zooming down the middle of the track with several other "journey" horses in his sights and a couple of progressive youngsters likely to be thereabouts too.

Smart move backing flying missile now cause if it gets support like it did last start it’ll be well into the red at the death

And I like the booking of jock on Super Ex all you need to do is look what it’s done both times Rawiler has jumped on it to replace the stables apprentice, potentially a good find for us TS

The acceptance and subsequent scratching of 58 rater Starof Bonnie Rose by Dion Luciani in a 78+ is pretty cynical when the obvious beneficiary is Marocchino trained by Lou Luciani.

agree flying missile is "flying" but i'm always a bit wary when a shortie is against so many 1st starters, you never know what's going on with them...eg forever dreaming has been trialling very well.

I wouldn't have mentioned backing it if it wasn't for someone posting that it winning was a joke. It was well enough credentialed to be on it, especially at the price.

You don't bet the way he does so you don't know what your talking about...he bets mutiple horses as per his rated prices the rougher ones backed are due to overs in the market.

To be honest your negative comments after any race tend towards showing that you couldn't have backed any horse that has gone past the post in front.

Bacause the race may have been deleted and Marocchino was the most likely to win given the market.

I was looking at the radar, not listening to forecasters. Radar doesn't lie.

Is there a LR that says if only 4 acceptors then it's deleted?

Not sure what the rule is but they do delete races when not enough acceptors.
Here comes the rain, moving from north west to the south east.
