I wish him well big changes in WA racing all coming to a head around same time.

    Good luck to him.
The dozen or so riders in WA who will be the immediate beneficiaries of his absence won't be too concerned I would imagine.

Something then that works for all, be surprised if he would up stumps and move there permanently though?

Hawkes team love him no doubt he would do well.

I imagine Sydney will be something like HK was for him.

What happens when/if they mandate double jab?

you are correct, carey, its only a matter of time before nsw racing introduce the 100% jab rule.
its the most competitive racing in the world, world class jocks all vying for the choice mounts.
he and his family live an idyllic life on a rural property, horses, a few cattle, free range chooks.
sydney would be a 4 bedroom house in suburbia.
more importantly, how would his fellow jocks accept an un vaxxed interloper?

^^ not in the foreseeable future. with this bloody covid its impossible to do much planning.
when they open their perth op. to outside clients they will be 100% full with that many again waiting for a vacancy.

Don't know Falcon, maybe Perrotter thinks that prayers are all you need.
Maybe Willy could join Hillsong and be exempt from everything, except happy clapping.

Will be interesting, not going to rock up most days and grab a double minimum,or hold a mortgage on each local group race,a big fish in a small pond about to hit the open waters! Plus side being pikey in the last will be a lot earlier!

he will have no idea the competitivness of sydney racing. we thought victoria was tough, they are play school compared to NSW.
those boys in sydney would fair dinkum take the pennies off they dead grannies eyes.
have you noticed there is virtually no interchange of good riders between vic and nsw? eg oliver has never had a go in sydney nor has eg berry tried his luck in vic.
    very wary of each other....

Could be a very short spell when nsw announce vax rules

Why would NSW announce vax rules?  V’Landys hasn’t done it for Rugby League so can’t see it for racing.  Plus they are basically at the point where half the population has had the virus, far better protection than the jab. They will be out the other side before we even start here.

I heard some supposed journo on RSN this morning saying he’d refuse to share the jockeys room with him if he were a Sydney jock as it would endanger his family.  What a load of crap, a vaccinated jock is just as likely to pass it on as W.Pike is.  Even the Vic government the most alarmist (sorry after WA) in the country is acknowledging that now

The common punting phrase has been 'Pikey in the last'... Now it is Pikey in the last... To get vaccinated.  :P

Bloke who was in the team that uncovered the genomic sequence of covid tonight said that Alpha Delta & Omicron did not mutate from each other directly ...completely separate genesis. The common link is that they arose in areas of the globe with poor vax rates that enabled transmission easily. Given time the virus has adapted to its antigen free hosts. Also...there is no guarantee of an "other side" mellowing of its effects. The path onward is a no brainer.
He probably can't ride even time but he is an odds on topweight in the epidemiology handicap for mine 63 kg... Pike on 48 kg.

Okay everyone...Next time you sneeze it could ne Omicron

Medical professionals around Australia now very annoyed at people wasting time and legitimate claims by presenting at hospital with sniffles and non related virus symptoms

Whats the difference in prizemoney? it must be nearly double for a Saturday win in Sydney

So he only has to ride half as many winners.........

Plus theres is only 3 $1 million races in November in WA, how many in NSW coming up?

And he will become the stable jock for team Hawkes you would think. So plenty of oppurtunity will come his way.

$61,250 to the winner for a standard Saturday race
$46,400 for the Highway and Midway races

As for $1 million races in NSW, my count is 25
