An outstanding line up of 686 yearlings have been catalogued for the sale - regarded as one of the best and most value auctions in the Southern Hemisphere.
The sale will be held over four sessions at the Belmont Park Sales Complex from (Wednesday) February 9.
In recent years the sale has produced outstanding gallopers including Scenic Blast, Waratah's Secret, Famous Roman, Sistine Angel, Scenic Shot, For Your Eyes Only, Brockman's Lass, Gilded Venom, Captain Obvious, Eclair Surprise and Saturday's group winning siblings God Has Spoken and Playing God.
The 2011 catalogue includes progeny by no fewer than 122 different stallions including local favourites Bletchley Park, Key Business, Oratorio, Viscount, Blackfriars and Hurricane Sky.
Exciting young stallions including Flying Pegasus, Due Sasso, Saxon, Vital Equine, Danehill Express, Fath, Balmont, Redoutable, Husson Lightning and Seinne are also well represented.
Mares with yearlings in the sale include group winners including Allow, Arabian Jazz, Jezabeel, Born Priceless, Inshallah, Kalatiara, No Questions, Only Glory, Prime Again, Bantry Bay, Card Queen, Isanami, Overclock, Paris Petard, Twilight Spy and Westerly Breeze.
Being prepared for the auction are (at least) half relations to group winners including Cats Fun, Kusi, Natural Blitz, Old Fashion, Superb Effect, Clueless Angel, French Bid, Happy Giggle, Idyllic Prince, Lords Ransom, Moccasin Bend, Motion Pictures, Noble Sky, Sistine Angel, Vain Crusader, Brockman's Lass, Famous Roman, Fingalbunt, Kasabian, Ma Ma Machine, Mansion House,Maranilla, Moodometer, Poor Judge, Revolition, Safety Outlet and Terwilliger.
There's a whole 10 pics loaded up on there website.....
Anyone who's seriously going to buy a lot is going to do so on the basis of inspection at the sale, not a photo / DVD.
Only thing the footage etc might achieve is getting someone to go to the sale where they might not have otherwise (ie to check out a particular horse), but I can't imagine anyone coming to Perth on the basis of a photo.
Like Juan Antonio Samaranch with the Olympics, i'm sure Magic Millions will be saying this is the best catalogue of yearlings ever, but imo it doesn't look as good (on paper) as previous years.
Any predictions on the sale topper and average :?:
I predict Blackfriars to top the sale average for WA based sires.
Yet his service fee is 1/4 of Oratorio's
I think the average will be <$40k but the median may rise a little.
Probably less interest from overseas and interstate but some strength from local buyers to push the median up.
funkster, if u can secure this one for me i'll go ya halves :P
A few nice types. Husson Lightning's first crop looks good
Lot 141 is all yours Hash :P
The full brother to Clueless Angel looks a cracker!
