East Coast Racing

edited February 2015 East Coast Racing
Just announced that these two publications have been bought at a blind auction conducted between Racing Vic and Racing NSW, by Racing Vic for $8.6 million.

Well done RV. Glad that imbecile Vlandys won't have control over them. For all its issues TVN was a terrific alternative to the collective geese  at Sky racing.

At least on TVN, blokes like Callander and even a chastened Bruce Clarke, would have a go when they saw something wrong, particularly with the state of tracks. Vlandys destroyed the trots in Sydney, no one goes to Menangle, and has done the same with TVN. Once the $150 million that he sold racing's soul for runs out, where is he going to get the continued funding to pay stake money. With budget deficits all round, I can't see successive Governments continuing to throw money at Racing in NSW. He's sold the rights for Sydney racing for around 20 mill less than what he would have got if he had stayed with TVN and held out. If not for Chris Waller, they would have 4 horse fields in some city races. So much for the health of racing in NSW.

The race clubs owned their own rights, and now Peter has sold out to Sky for far less than what he could have got if he had stuck fast with Racing Vic. As long as his bottom is pointing to the ground,  no matter what he does,Sydney will never match Melbourne for the quality of their racing, their field sizes, the popularity that punters show by betting more in NSW on Vic racing than in NSW, and the racing carnivals and attendance at those carnivals.

At Sky, everything is lovely and you have that buffoon, sorry Dave Stanley, I know you are only doing your job, but you Do come across as a complete buffoon, putting over these ridiculous so called bets that the Tab have taken. I don't recall the horse, but here was Dave telling us that the TAB had taken on a Rosehill Race, a 30 grand bet, followed by a 25 grand bet followed by a 20 grand bet.Aside from the completely unrealistic amounts, coz I know a punter that couldn't get $100 on a dog at the meadows last Saturday night at fixed odds of $4.00, the odds that the imagined punters were taking, were 50% lower than you could have got on track at Rosehill.

Anyway, as many of you have suggested, it will be sound off from the 16th. march, except to hear the commentary of a race.

Mind you, when I can't sleep, I DO listen to the best cure for insomnia ever invented, the droning monotone of Tony Brassels Voice.
I-) I-)

There were some funny tipsters in the Best Bets from years gone by ... Percy The Place Punter was a good one and I think there was a Madam X . A great neat form guide the Best Bets. Always liked it .

I used to have a stack of best bets that Crisp couldnt jump...there was 15 yrs worth.

Great line!  Crisp. What a champion! 1973 Grand National versus UK champ Red Rum. What a race. Crisp carried the grandstand in weight and Red Rum had a massive weight advantage. I recall as a kid living in Melbourne at the time listening to the race on the long wave radio and I nearly cried when Crisp was caught just before the post.

    Clarence the clocker?
  • Ridersonthestorm33Ridersonthestorm33    10,951 posts
Yes I'm sure their was a few more. Clarence the clocker rings a bell. Shane Templeton likes to tell how when writing for another newspaper that when he had no idea about the chances of a horse his standard comment was 'bears watching' and then had visions of bears looking down at the said horse.

Speak to the Sydney trot boys GMac, and they will tell you with one voice that he destroyed the sport at harold Park. that lead to the sale and now no one goes to Menangle.

There will be a crowd there for the Inter Dom, but after that it will be a ghost town.

    They are at it again.

Just said that a "punter" had a bet of $4,200 on Always Allison at $2.80 fixed with the Tab, on race 3 at Warwick Farm.

You could swim in $3.60 on track and $4.60 on Betfair.

Who the hell are these idiots who have more money than brains. Or could it be that they don't exist?

Nah that couldn't be right could it?

Anyway, what a smart punter. The horse has won, and he's won $2,160.

Could have won $3120 on track, or $4,440 on the fair.

What's even more amazing, is that the geese presenters at Sky, made no mention of the "punters" win after the race.

Couldn't be because even they would be TOO embarrassed to tell the mugs in the tote that a bloke has copped $2.80 when it's paid $4.30 on the Parimutuel.

For those of you who may not think that this bullshite doesn't influence the mugs in the Tabs, we were in the Tab at Port Macquarie last Saturday coz the local meeting was washed out, and all that the punters there could talk about were these "huge" bets that Dave Stanley was feeding these chooks in the tote.

We could hear them saying, "I've backed the 6, but now I HAVE to have something on the 3.

They are an absolute disgrace, and the media instead of continually licking the collective anal orifices of the Tab and Sky Racing, should ask to see these so called "bets" and expose them for the bullshiiters that they are.

I was watching a few races casual tues afternoon and I actually had to turn it off, just can't handle sky. Was constantly being told where the smart money was going or "he isn't favourite but this is the one they've been backing today" and this was on some crappy dog race where the fixed market would have only been open for 15 minutes. It was every single race, they have no form, no comment on the animals in any of the races, nothing on which trainer was looking at a double etc just telling me the smart money was on dog 6 because it had firmed from $11 to $10.50 on tote! Give me a spell.

The goose in the studio just said before this race at WF, "Arabian Gold most popular will start favourite"

$4.20 out to $7.00 in the ring.

I always thought they were just amateur idiots. I was wrong, they are professional imbeciles.

Some win from Alpine Eagle cant find him in the markets for the Derby wonder what the plan is with him looks a WFA star in the making.

McEvoy is still saying he does not want to go to Sydney and the target for this year is  the SA Derby.

However not quite as adamant as he was before today and depending on whether Wolf Blass has strong ideas there is still a slight chance I suppose.
