R1: 1 Ideal Justice leads and wins. 3 Basful Compton won well last start and is likely to get the 1,1 behind vertical four who can run ok from the breeze. Major Dancer gets leaders back and will stick on, don’t know if it has a really quick quarter in it and seeing as there doesn’t look to be any pressure on the leader I think they may absolutely hum home so Rivers Of who does have a quick quarter in her may be able to sprint over the top of the 8 into 2nd. Like the FF 1/8,9/8,9/2,3,4,6,10,12
R2: Loving the $20/$4 available on No8 Maggies Mystery. To my eye she is racing very well and will love the soft run on the fence, should be leaders back or at worst 3 back. That will be a good spot to be in this. Get involved! FF:1,8/1,2,8,9/1,2,6,8,9/1,2,6,8,9.
R3: An absolute guess job. Would have thought Voak would have stuck with Mister Hannible so that is a bit of lead but I wouldn’t be backing Lenny when he isn’t off the front. Won’t be playing here, cheering for Hannible as I have a soft spot for him and he’s been good to me.
R4: Romulus holding up should win. If somehow Hez Got The Nod gets to the top he will be hard to beat.
R5: Far more open race than the early markets have it. I think Vapour is really going to be hard pressed to hold up with both Old McDonald and Local Rogue having great gate speed and racing well in front. Even if he does hold up Onedin Crusader will get up outside him and put some pressure on, Graybuck is dropping in class, Indomitable will be motoring and basically the rest of the field are going well.
R6: Obviously if Pacific Warrior leads he wins. I think he will do that as his gate speed and overall ability to get around GP are vastly improved. One fly in the ointment could be Our Blackbird who broke through last start and appears to only race at his best when leading so you would expect them to at least be coming out looking. I’ve just had a couple of dollars on Blackbird at the big odds in case he gets over but not a race to get massively involved in for me.
R7: Not the draw I would have liked for the Derby in terms of making it interesting, I just hope something happens to spark it up. With Reed driving a horse that is a chance maybe it will? I’ve really liked how Military master has been parading and how he has gone on the track but I’d probably want double the odds available though to have a bet on him.
R8: Again going to back The Feather Foot and hope for luck, call me a sucker but I really think he might get it in this.
R9: I do like Fay Darling ability wise but not going to back it here.
R10: No2 Alhambra Rocket has been racing without luck and has a bit of gate speed, at $34 it could give them something to catch in this. That said Simply Susational has been flying and should get over these.

Not tipping as such but I will have something on Harriet Elizabeth EW first up in R2, has a better strike rate than everything else, I think Mohegan Sun EW in R5 and will stay with original thought of Tricky Styx (heavily biased to the place) in the Derby ...Reed saying he will take on BB out the gate....for how long, that is the key. Very good program tonight, many chances. If I have any early luck, Be Prepared in R8 at odds and will watch Bonds horse Bailey's Gold first up in WA in R9.

Off the top of your head does anyone remember a drive from Morgan Woodley where they thought gee that was a fantastic drive?

I guess he must do but I'm never involved in them! Only a little thing but if he was switched on he would have kept Major Dancer's back and run 4th. Not a major thing but not something that I would expect of a "big name" driver. I wonder wether it is just if your driving race after race, day after day complacency steps in and the thoughts become "we aren't going to win anyway so we'll just get around safe" but regardless of what the position is they need to be striving for it to be the best possible. Would love the stewards to remind them of this, nothing major but good for integrity.

Danieljohn is a most interesting runner tonight.
Could start over the odds with the stable change. Definitely has the speed to get fwd with that front line, and has a distinct class edge on his best form.

Was actually thinking he'd be one to look at if he popped up in a claimer sometime in the future, not that there seems to be many claimers for horses in that range at the moment.

Upped stumps after Mohegan and Tricky Styx collects ....and a good thing too. I know she is not in the same zone as BB but Tricky is a good filly, great run to beat the rest of the boys and $3.90 was nice. Pacific Warrior is indeed a warrior, what a great job Ray Williams has done with him.

How long does Tommy Sheehy get?

How was the protest NOT upheld...he went to the fence when there was no room and caused chaos yet he keeps second....ridiculous in my view.
Thought Kiwi Legend went terrible...for a $200k plus horse, they have plenty of work to do to get their cash back after buying him on a failed vet test. BB looks the far superior animal. Also noticed John Of Arc hopping and skipping and not really driven out...maybe he is sore, maybe not but he doesn't get around GP to well when back in the field.

Agree. If you end up in a position that your not entitled to (behind the leader) and If the horse you ousted goes well enough to demonstrate that it would have finished as close as you did or better, then you should lose the protest. Jeazalenko ended up settling 2 spots behind bagwhan and was closer than thst at the finish. No doubt stewards report will say that they couldn't be sure the positions would have been reversed had the interference not occurred. Bullshit.

John of arc - looked sore going down the back to me.

In some jurisdictions, the red flag would go up and he would have been disqualified. Stated in the report that he caused horses to be "severely checked". And John Of Arc scored at "performance queried"...my view he is being driven for self preservation with his past injuries foremost in the drivers mind....fair enough but is it fair on punters?? Obviously a great talent but you can't have him in a race.

Just can't work that one out. Jezza was going to get leaders back... Then knocked over...he actually did quite well to finish as close as he did. Severely checked say the stewards... how much more interference were they looking for from Bagwhan. Was there room for him to drop in on the leader ? If not and Jezza gets poleaxed how can you dismiss the protest ? ~X(
