Ashes betting

I was looking at betting on Josh Hazelwood for most wickets in the upcoming Ashes, think his height and movement will be well suited to English conditions. With sportsbet can only bet on most wickets for Aus not entire series which is fine. However in their market there's no Mitchell Starc as a betting option. They've framed a market around 6 bowlers and a couple of part timers at huge odds but leave out the man who possibly should be favourite going off white ball form. It's a joke because everyone else is under the odds they would be if he was included. They wouldn't be allowed to frame a market in a horse race even pre-post by leaving out a nominated horse that would be short priced so why is this allowed? Absolute joke but I guess I should expect this from the corporates

surely they have to have odds for "any other bowler"?

Nope. If Starc takes the most wickets you lose your cash and you had no option to bet that way.

I have a screen shot in case it changes but current odds read

    Mitchell Johnson $3.25
    Ryan Harris $3.75
    Josh Hazelwood $4.33
    Nathan Lyon $6.00
    Peter Siddle $9.00
    Fawaf Ahmed $9.00
    Mitch Marsh $23.00
    Shane Watson $26.00
    Adam Voges $151.00
    Steve Smith $176.00

The best part is you can back Starc to make most runs @ $300

Have you tried to contact them?

I remember last year I liked Sabatini to win the Thousand Guineas about 6 or so weeks out. She wasn't in the market at any of the 3 operators offering a market. I though Excellent I'll send them an email thinking that if they haven't even got her in the market I'll could be looking at 50/1 plus to have a few dollars EW.

Then BAM, they whack her in the market for me, $6 second favourite. None of the other prices changed. Think she ended up paying nearly $5 the place! Left the race alone unfortunately.

Just called and they said they have sent off to their team to have him added.  Be interesting to see how long that takes but I suspect your experience Gilgamesh will be what happens here, he will be added at a fairly short quote and all other odds will remain unchanged.  We shall see

Starc has been added at $4.33 and Hazelwood now out to $5.00. Good result cheers Gilgamesh. Now just need big Josh to out bowl Starc in the Windies as I think it's between those 2 for the 3rd seam bowling spot in the Ashes.

Hazelwood bowled really well in the tour match in the windies. The spot looks his.

Super Mitch didn't play (either of them)
  • PrecisionPrecision    295 posts
Correct Tivers attack against the Wimdies looks like it will be those two and Hazelwood. I'm tipping though we may find Starc and Johnson don't work in the same test team as they are both too expensive. I think Starc may find he's the one to give way when Harris becomes available in England. That's my hope anyway.

In other news Rogers set to miss the first test due to concussion from a hit from a net bowler. Marsh to open and hopefully Voges to debut although potentially they could go for both Mitch Marsh and Watson in the same team.

Voges confirmed to play and $11 still available with sportsbet for most runs for Aus first innings. The last 2 West Aussie batsman to debut have tonned up can he continue that? Either way that's a great price.

Marsh doesn't want to get out the same way in the next dig. Mind you he probably won't get another bat

    Wtf was Watson doing ???
  • PrecisionPrecision    295 posts
Aussies are going to leave the Caribbean with 2 pretty easy wins and I think that's going to cover up a couple of huge holes in the side. Watson and Haddin both should be right under the pump but both seem to be in the Clarke purple circle so won't lose their spot until the Aussies start to lose. I'm sure we won't enforce the follow on to give the number of struggling batsman another hit but a another fail for any of them will only increase the pressure.

Our bowling is the saving grace though, it's easy to forget the Windies actually put together some decent totals against the Poms last month yet haven't looked like it here. Hazlewood looks to be securing his spot for the 1st ashes test and you would assume Harris comes straight in too so interesting times ahead.

Think the Poms will win at least one test and at least one draw also. 2-1 or 3-1 to Aus for me. Hopefully by the end of the series we will have seen the last of Brad Haddin and Shane Watson at Test level, that would top it off!
