I only saw the last few races and that's the way it looked to me, too. They probably just over cooked the tempo in the last which is often what happens when there is a slight to moderate bias. Pike looked like he was in the perfect position on Resonates if the bias was really severe.

Looking at the replay of the last 600m, NAL was in front of RO but got left standing and the jock on NAL sure didn't miss it with the whip. Jerry Noske was kind to the fav over the closing stages but the horse was clearly holding the 2nd horse on the line.

Yeah but shortly after straightening-so the last 400m or so-Red Ora headed the other horse and Need A Lift needed just that if it was going to get past the winner. Not knocking the run but from a future point of view I'd be more concerned that the whip didn't really extract enough from the runner up but the winner still had a bit left to give yet wasn't asked.
