Got a function to attend tonight in a "service free" zone ...plenty of them in the South West ...but there are one or two that I like.

Race 3  #11 Livura. Fixed at $4.20 is a bit short first up but the draw is okay and has ability...would want better value before having a dip but quite like the horse.
Race 4 #5 I'm Master Charlie...very short at $2.20 and a question mark from the stand but was enormous in the Bridgetown Cup last Sunday. Got skittled by a galloper out of the mobile, settled at the rear, stayed there whilst the pa was on up front, 3 wide from the 1000m and pulled away in the straight in very good time.I know it was only Bridgetown but was some run.
Race 5 #1 American Bootscooter.....drawn 1, with the Lewis's now, will win but odds on look on.
Race 6 ...Bettors Fire first up has a great record. Much better than these. There is talk about Tuxedo Tour now with Olivieri...been burnt too often to listen but will watch how he goes with interest to see if he can find very lost form.
Race 7 Very good field with Mitch drawing 1 taking some interest away but #10 Tisadreamn drawn behind him at $26 and $2.90...a good 30%/70% EW bet. Has ability.
Race 8 Interesting ex NSW horse with the worst name I've ever seen and on principle, I can't back a horse called Littlebitchicknfried and would want chips and gravy thrown in at $4.20 but dfid win at penrith 2 starts back and hasn't come West for a holiday.

Often when do these bets they come unstuck...the worst at backing leaders back and they miss the drum...however if Tisadream at around $2.70 to $3 isn't the greatest place bet of the century sitting on the back of Mitch then I'm a Dutchman! Would have him around $1.50 to $1.70 place but don't tell the bookie boys! Be interesting to see if I can stop another leaders back place certainty :-S

Yes, a few of these may need a bit of luck...Livura, Tisadream but just having a chuck at the stumps. Tisadream very impressive 2 starts back. Better value at Wagin tonight with some pretty open race...couple I like but willwait to see what fixed looks like before having a crack.

Some sensational racing tonight, really enjoying it.

Is it fair to say horses can get pretty keen on Ryan Warwick? I'm sure Mitch was racing a bit a bit more up tempo than he should have been.

Tisadream was just ok. Probably not helped by Mitch getting a bit fired up , brought the rest of the field into it. Was hoping Mitch would give them the slip but he was in a bit of froth and bubble himself. Good race. Mike Reed horses previous 6 months or so are fair dinkum flying at all sorts of prices. Great horseman.

5 winners for both of us, not hard on the night.

Sadly sightseeing Anvil every possible with them only getting home in 29.5, seems the good run was an anomaly.

Just watched the replays...terrific racing, it had a bit of everything, $80 and $22 winners, a few shorties which had to race very well to justify their price, horses coming from the back of the bus and a fantastic 3YO Western Gateway Pace.
Bettors Fire is some athlete and was fantastic to watch and maybe it is a good call to take OJJ to Bunbury tonight...a few hip and shoulders handed out at the back of the pack in that race. Mitch McGuire is a very bullish looking colt, heavy at the front end and maybe the extra journey stretched him. The filly Maczsaffair was sensational and was in front a stride past the post and Tisadream, well, he seemed to get his momentum chopped off...hard to go, stop and go again, so I will forgive him. Livura was good first up but no match for Macilranish who possibly should have won the Bridgetown Cup, I'm Master Charlie ran well, driven very similar after again finding a bit of strife at the start but Tommy Be Good got a pie run and just nailed him.
Big Americanbootscoota raced most ungenerously, he looked to be a real handful reefing and pulling and back to school for him...odds on look on...fired up off the gate and kept cooking himself.
As far as a form race for the WA Derby, a lot of very good horses have completed the Western Gateway, Derby double over the 46 year history. Chicago Bull, Beaudiene Boaz, Alta Christiano, I'm Victorious, Mr Yankee, Talladega, Saab, Salinger, Whitby's Miss Penny, Smooth Dave and Via Vista. But a lot more haven't......Elegant Christian, Ohoka,s Bondy, David Hercules, The Falcon Strike, Flashing Star, Hilarion Star, Manageable, Hey Maybe, Pacific ruler, whispering Campaign, Warwick Kid and Mister Karamea to name just a few. And Via Vista and Whitby's Miss Penny the only two fillies to do the double. So there you go, that confuses the issue good and proper. The draw in the Derby will once again be vitally important. Maybe Mitch may be better suited with a sit?
Mister Ardee franked the Bridgetown Cup form...once again, for some unknown reason, the Cup down there has held up remarkably as a form race just like it did with Kimba Bay, Another Vinnie and Smokey the Bandit two years ago.
