Belmont 19/8/20

West Australian Racing
R1- ZAALAH gets to what looks a more appropriate journey for her after a couple of runs at 1200 and 1300. Went around as an odds on favourite on both of those occasions but didn’t appear to be sharp enough to win at those trips. Gets to 1700 third up where she looks better suited and able to race on speed as more of a one pacer. Meets a small field without a lot of talent and should be winning one soon.

R2- GINGER GREEN was racing pretty much first up behind a handy one in Congreve Rocket. They ran time on that occasion and he did a good job to make ground on a day where it was hard to do so. With that under his belt he looks ready for 1400 with the soft run he should get from barrier one. Looks capable of holding the leaders back and waiting for the cutaway to make his run.

R3- CLASSIC MAGNUS did what she had to last start when winning fairly comfortably. Had the blinkers go on for that and they looked to sharpen her up and may even be better suited back to the 1000m. Steps out against the older horses here as an early season 3yo but this race lacks quality and she can take advantage of that. Drawn a little sticky but looks a versatile horse so can probably just be ridden how she jumps.

R4- GIANT LEAP was a shade disappointing after looking to have every chance the other when unable to get past Hoolahoops. Willing to forgive him jumping from 1300 to 1700 there and comes back to 1400 here with the winkers on to sharpen him up a touch. From the gate will be looking to find a midfield spot with some cover and can take advantage of a class drop to be right in this.

R5- HOOLAHOOPS produced a tough performance to win last start when being produced early and having to fight to the line. Had been racing well prior when hitting the line from the back of the field but looks suited to racing just off the speed. Gets to 2100 and looks ready after three runs around a mile and with a couple of gear changes settle her a little more. Is only a small horse so should appreciate another fly weight on her back and make herself hard to get past.

R6- GILLESPIE has always looked like a horse with ability but has found it hard to win races. Had been finding bad luck or one better all last prep but runs some of his better races fresh and has been trialling stylishly. Gets a new trainer in Michael Lane who is going really well at the minute and should be able to get the best out of him. Draws to get a soft run just off the speed and finds himself in a much weaker race than anything he faced last time in.

R7- Best Bet: BORN TO TRY was very impressive when never a winning chance first up. Settled last in a very slowly run race and finished off really well into fourth in Saturday grade. Comes back to a class three for fillies and mares which looks very good placement and from the low draw she can sit wherever Parnham wants her. Gets the winkers on to give her a bit more zip and will be looking for the cutaway in the straight.

Agree with Train and Plucky "Dizzy" looks a sound investment indeed, may be the second leg of a double hopefully as i like Castillo Del Lago in the 2nd.Actually think he will really relish the soft conditions today should be cherry ripe..or gets the sack.

Want to get $10 for Divine Rain R3, Webster has recently gelded this one and his trial was nice work i thought.
I think he will run a balltearing :D race at good ew odds.

Staying race is a very open affair, a whose turn is it OR an up and comer could arrive and rise through the grades race?..i say the former and my dart hit Uncle Lino..loves the soft conditions, is down a bit in grade and he should run terriffic again today i'm In!!
Even Ney Ney the deceiver could figure(soft track may be a hindrance)plus watch out too for the other Parnham runner @H..Dark Prospect.

It'll probably win Dark Prospect but I've sacked it. Can go around at that price without me

He is a promising galloper i agree, i'm concerned he will need further i.e in a similar scenario last prep 1500 was a bit short 2nd up(and he missed the kick)?

Am a serious knock on the fav so i'll have a bet yours and am curious to see how Brave Contender goes, back to 1400 not ideal but Durrant is an astute fella so at around 15s+ he might be worth an ew punt again. They may go forward and test the pack to catch me if you can..should be fit enough.

Ginger green looks to be the best bet today, born to try second up looks almighty hard to beat I can’t back her to win as she’s had enough chances but I do think melros beach sitting just off the pace today will run one hell of a race

I think My Boss can improve at odds in R4..A little tickle at 126 and 20 last night.

R6  Cruelly named Too Fat Too Slow to run well fresh

Taking a risk but fancy two to win against more favoured stablemates
    R5 Conquered Zone
R7 Caerhelan an each way special

Why do jockey persist with rails runs when the rail isn't the place to be.

Born to Try absolutely legless in betting and runs accordingly while truckloads of money for the winner was smart. Amazing.

Looks like Shaun O'Donnell might be in the sin bin after the last. Decent old check dished out at around the 200m mark
