CRIS website VS Racing Victoria website
West Australian Racing
I may be showing my inexperience of racing websites but the difference between the two websites is baffling. Racing Victorias website is easy to use, the ability to see where the horses are entered is available and the overall layout is just better.
Not wanting to start arguements, but why doesnt WA have a site similar to that ( correct me if there is).
Look forward to hearing what people think, and if this has already been posted in the past I am sorry.

I use it for information etc. I also use this website to collect info in regards to a spreadsheet that I post on here every now and then re: WA's Highest Prizemoney Earners. I get all the info from there.
Racing Victoria allows you to type any horse - and you get info on them. CRIS is similiar but Racing Victoria is better (im not victorian either).
Racing And Sports is another website that is good also.
The only time I use CRIS is when im looking for a horse that ran in the early 1980s because Racing Victoria's website doesnt go that far and CRIS does - however CRIS only has info about WA horses (I think).
Cheers,
PC.
The CRIS site is quality - covers most every WA start because thats what it caters for - WA reviewers.
a feature a simple as the one on vic racings' where u can go to a meeting for that day, click on the race, get the full field up and have a look at each runner's last few starts, their sp for those races (and flucs), the positon they settled in the run and what possie they were at at the 800 then 400.... it tells u the second and third horse if that horse is a last start winner or if not it shows the winner and second horse
so much more detail on one page, where as on the cris site to find all this info above u need to click on dates of the race other horses to go through the formline of a race etc etc, too many windows and links need to be opened, compared to the racing vic site where its all their on one whole page for every runner in the race in question...........
the answer is up until last couple of years......nothing.
cris in contrast, has been providing valuable info for years.
find me some individual times for beaten runners on the rvl site??
still it's not there.
cris provides times for all runners, and these times are generally more accurate than margins are, as the margins are derived from the photo strip which is a function of time anyway.
so weirdly, all the places that give margins only, are basically taking an accurate measure of time and converting it to an inaccurate measure of distance.
with cris at least you can ignore the margin and use the actual time.
I still much prefer the Racing Victoria Website. If there is a horse I am following I can easily type its name in and find if it is nominated somewhere.
on a positive note our cris website is much better and user friendly compared to racing nsw, their layout is a joke and very amatuerish looking...
but in regard with the original arguement, yes racing vic site is far better than cris, its honestly a non event trying to compare the two.... racing vic site looks good, has their silks, position in running at the 800m and 400m mark, you can click on the sire and dam and look back at their record, has their SP for each run aswell as the betting flucs and most importantly - comments after every run eg. commenced awkwardly, Saddle shifted 1100m placing rider at disadvantage throughout, Rider accidentally dropped his off side rein over the concluding stages etc etc and its all on the same page, no need to click into a certain meeting for a horse and then have to read the stewards report and all that jazz....
Horse Search Results
No horses matching 'machino' were found.
However,The TRSA website is excellent. The best thing of it is race replays available at the click of a button from all meetings and trials in S.A. over the last 3 months.CRIS doesnt have race replays and The s.a. website is free, not some exclusive membership that Perth Racing have.

My only gripe with what we get in WA is trial vision from country venues. I don't mind paying for a pr.com logon but would be much happier if all trial vision from country venues was made available and promptly.
