after getting the data in, then.....

race 7 was the fastest pace i have ever seen in wa, doubt any horse could run like that off its own bat.
el rijes and hbc( tongue over bit or not)
mr lewis should be embarrassed that the report said nothing about it.
anything that finished behind academus can forget it over here, they simply won't be up to it.
academus should have tossed it long before the post too, that it won does not auger well for anything finishing behind it if they plan on coming east.

and then there is travinator, he basically went to the 600 faster this week than his previous run, and that was after being tardy.
he had to compound, thus i would take nothing from that run.
he is still up to that standard in my own mind.
too fast at the start meant he had nothing to give when it counted, and that his overall was far lower than last time, even though early was faster, is ample evidence he was given none.
barakey on the other hand has gone ahead again. can't do much more than what he is. great horse.

and poor old luckgray, what a great run that was too.
and the ride of the winner was super and the reason it won, pity he does not display his obvious ability more often.

Still say was a poor ride by the Bossman (above supports this). He rode it as though it was the one going to be 'cracking' the other one - don't think that would've been the plan surely.

spot on ds, it was a poor ride for sure, but nothing lost for us!....you would have been on the winner and i didn't bet on the race.
perhaps wilson told him it was another vain or placid ark !

Boss put in a shocker on Travinator IMO, it was still a very good run. Barakey on the other hand was simply herculean.

I just cant see how Travinator will ever beat Barakey though, it would have to be a 1000m race and he sure as hell wouldn't be beating Barakey down the straight. Maybe the William Reid at the valley but thats over 1200.

    maybe right dt.
barakey had me fooled its last few before saturday.
but he just keeps on doing it.

travinator i think needs to do it in wa first.
not sure how he would go over here, but think barakey has the presence to do it anywhere.

well backed here the regulator 100s into 50s.....

if you did some extensive form, having a bet on the regulator wasnt as insane as some think. I only had 5ew at $71 with the bookies, which i was excited about however I am not gloating in any way here as I know thats peanuts for alot of punters. I had a decent bet (by my standards) on him last start when he came last. The horse had no luck first or second up and actually ran really well, second up over 1000m he would have been beaten roughly a length, if not less, had he not been completely chopped out at the 100m mark. First-up he was 3&4 wide throughout and third up he got caught back on the rails where he doesnt like to be, before climbing onto heels turning for home. All his four wins have come when hes been up on the speed and with the lack of speed on saturday, he was always likely to push forward from 12. In the horse's 18 career starts, he has led or sat outside the leader on 5 occasions, resulting in four wins and a close second to Romp To Fame. In an 8 horse field last start i had a nice ew bet on at 50-1, which i thought was actually a decent investment. However he was slightly tardy away and settled back. On his day and ridden well he's a very solid horse and I was delighted to see the utter jubliation from the owners and trainer post-race. A fantastic day overall on Saturday, well done to all concerned

I backed him last two, and sacked him. I couldnt have made that many excuses in a lifetime to get me to back him again. But you must be a forgiving person Vlahs! ;)

well yes for the reasons I gave (and the fact I have followed him his whole career) I didn't think a $10 investment would be the worst idea at ridiculous odds and in the end it did a world of good :)

I've wasted $10 and $20 on a lot worse horses in my lifetime!

Paddy goes ok. He may have been instructed to go berserk as the stablemate went straight back to last and would have been suited by a hot speed. With an astute stable like Simon Miller's doing the speed maps etc, it has to be a logical consideration. I'm surprised that the stewards didn't query what looked so obvious to most.

Darlingtons Run was massive SOD was half a sleep on that filly she should have won
Perfect ride not much more he could do

but, alex, you are an unabashed andrews fan..the #1 ticket holder.
i guarantee you would be miles behind in your loyalty as you back every stable runner.

Seriously Geoff? i guarantee most of the people on here are miles behind and you are way off there, i dont back every runner, not even close, i follow his runners and if they have a chance i bet. In fact The Regulator was the only Andrews horse i backed on Saturday. I dont punt massive and when horses win like The Regulator did i get a kick out of it. And my comment had nothing to do with being a follower of his stable, if i was presented those facts for any 70-1 horse id have my $10 on everyday of the week. Another thing,I'd rather follow a stable like Andrews than Durrant or Miller, not that theyre not great trainers, simply just that 9 out of every 10 of their horses starts a short price and unless you make substantial investments, half the time its barely worth it. Plus when you make more substantial investments and they lose obviously you lose more, like if you backed millers two shorties last week. I follow a few stables, Andrews and Kersley being two of the main ones and thats a method I enjoy, but thats just me.

Had another look at the replays nothing wrong with his ride on Ranger it loomed up to win just reckon it ran out of condition last 100m or so wasnt beaten far at all may have more improvement to come than some of the others.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
Inspired me to HAVE A LOOK goose, and there were a few hard luck stories and a few frustrating ones.. Am glad i don't own Niblick - over raced again and then ran down the straight at a reasonable click to hold it's spot..if it didn't over race you have to wonder if it'd be capable of making up a few of those lengths it needs...

But the replay also re-enforces my first opinion of it being a mighty run by LG...and a really good ride on Mr Moet..

Lost his spot in running got shuffled to far back again on Ranger he needs to be stronger on hold his position in running the same deal with Antique Belle ,Grant williams said they would ride her closer from the gate 1 at the half mile he had her falling back through the field that filly hasnt got of the bridle in its last 2 starts IMO both PILOT ERRORS but they all make them just the best make less

Your a hard judge Dungy Ranger does have a tendency to do that even with other riders on stick with him Saturday I reckon if he draws well get on dont know what to make of Antique Belle yet might not be best at Ascot.

Looked like he needed the run. Can win the KT for sure.

AB won pretty well 3 starts ago sitting 3 deep
DS is correct Ranger looked very big to me will come on from the run just think the further they push him out over more ground he doesnt have that big burst it takes the sprint out of him but agree has to be a chance in the KT
