exactly what i was thinking. if he had so much intent...then why didnt he administer it?
did they jump out of the bushes too early and surprise him?
I cant really see this charge sticking.

Yep, thought exactly the same thing. Should have just filmed him doing it if that's the case.

Has been charged under rule 170 (not sure what that is) and fined $10,000 by RVL stewards.

    Considering appeal.

AR170...An objection can not be withdrawn without leave of the stewards(deleted and replaced 1/9/09)..maybe there is another 170??

It's actually rule 175 “The Committee of any Club or the Stewards may penalise: Any person, who has committed a breach of the Rules, or whose conduct or negligence has led or could have led to a breach of the Rules.”

As well as suspicion of breaking 178

    Stewards determined that Mr Durrant’s conduct or negligence led or could have led to a breach of AR 178E(1) which states;

“Notwithstanding the provisions of AR 178C(2), no person without the permission of the Stewards may administer or cause to be administered any medication to a horse on race day prior to such horse running in a race.”

So why did Moody only cop $500 ?? i dont get it some one explain .
Big Wes is ofter on the racing show saying that Moody and the like get soft treatment
  • MountainMountain    73 posts
Probably because of what the intended substance was.

The particulars of the conduct being that at approximately 10am on 23 February 2013, Mr Durrant approached the stall in which Mr Moet was stabled at 355 Balnarring Rd, Tuerong with a loaded syringe containing Carbalene, an alkalinising agent, and a hand towel with the intention of administering that medication to Mr Moet.

thanks for the clarity mountain..Based on all that is written here - and that is totally accurate..haha - he would have to appeal and get off, cos as stated above,.....he didn't administer anything!!!!

But it does appear as they want to make him sweat a bit...you'd think they had more than released to fine that much on the same day as Moody get $500????????

What does Carbalene do or used for ???

Thats was i was thinking Rio ,how did Moody cop $500 and he did it on race day but AD actually didnt inject the horse the stewards interupted as he was about to
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
he could have been going to wrap the syringe in the towel for after the race....I'm all for wiping cheats out of our industry...but they do have to cheat first..found guilty and then admonished to the far corners of the world....He is a travelling trainer as well..

Does anyone give that stuff to horses after racing????? I have no idea..or NFI if in doubt

What a joke. I hope they appeal. Maybe hes being punished for his "attitude".

The stewards stuffed up and are trying to get something out of it. If intent was all that was required half the population would be in jail %-(

Carbalene looks fine, obviously the issue was the alkalizing agent and the hand towel (clearly has some significance)

Moody's stable hand actually administered aswell whereas Durrant didnt.
If he did have the intent....then they needed to let him act on it before they can bust him surely?

if consumed by humans it adds oxygen to your water and helps to neutralize acids, a simple way to alkalize your water is with a dash of baking soda, by drinking it you remove acid toxins from your body, which results in easy weight loss muscle mass gain and extra energy levels...

so if i walk into a bank with a gun and just stand there then walk out, did i rob it? ( forget the legal side, but do you get my point) he didn't do anything. if they did pop out of the bushes 5 seconds too early the stewards should be charged with stupidity.
  • senseisensei    100 posts
silly to put himself in that position though.

A syringe on race day about 4 to 5 hours before the horse races. Hmmm.

You can't treat on race day so why risk being caught at all with a loaded syringe and Carbalene and moving towards the horse in an action consistent with administering it.

I think the bigger question is why were the Stewards hiding out in Mornington with a video camera fixed on AD and MM on the day of a race. Just a hunch? How lucky were they that a trainer obliged by preparing a loaded syringe.

Pay the fine. If your not guilty consider it an expensive reminder to not be so reckless in future. If your guilty consider how lucky you are that the stewards didn't wait a few moments.

and would jason warren take exception to having his name dragged into it?

I doubt the welcome mat would be extended at JW's anymore.

I am not suggesting that stewards were there to see JW if that is how my post reads.
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
yeah it looks suss..and it isn't a good position to be in for AD, and if he is guilty then he should have been wiped out..they obviously have very little proof and have been heavy handed with him..

Then again i'd assume that MM was blood tested after the race and i wonder if they will send them to Singapore for thorough testing. If it adds oxygen to water it may be considered a masking agent and therefore, by stopping him they may feel that anything that may have been administered before they stopped him will show up in detailed blood tests...Not sure if this product is used int that way, but it may be part of the CAT teams theory....

$10k for one guy doing nothing..$500 for a guy that does something..It really isn't right

  • MountainMountain    73 posts
It appears the alkalizing agent can be used for masking so there does appear merit to that train of thought.

I'd like to know why the hand towel is relevant enough to be mentioned?

to wipe the horse down before he jabbed it??? and then to hold over the exit puncture to stop that one or two drops of blood...a bigger surface area generally means less chance of bruising or blood pooling..
