I like the idea of cowan and rogers opening. It won't happen but he has a solid enough technique makes runs over there year after year. I don't think there is anything wrong with opening seeing off the new ball like what used to happen. I wouldnt be surprised to see Bailey get a gig at number 6 the selectors seem to love him and his form in odi seems to be getting better

It is clear our batters can't bat, but it is now becoming clear that our bowlers can!

Our bowlers can't bowl, but maybe our batters can?

I propose Cowan and Hughes to open the bowling with Wade first change...

The reason the bowlers are making runs is they accept its hard to score and take their time and wait for bad balls. Our top order are consistently getting out to aggressive shots. News flash these Indian spinners are good, especially in their conditions. Going hard isn't working. Only thing I'd say is this series means nothing for England. That means Hughes stays at 3 and Smith doesn't play. Not sure on Warner think I'd give him the 1st test but he's on borrowed time unless he scores.

Oh and Maxwell can go as far away from test cricket as possible. Proof that one day and especially t20 form should count for NOTHING when looking at our test team.

How the f_ck doesnt Khawaja not get a game and what the f_ck is Wade doing batting at 6 in front of Haddin!
Odds on he will leak double figure byes and miss at least one stumping and a catch
Any chance of playing our best available team?

Our best batter Starc being out could prove costly.
Agree Khawaja should have got a game and what has Wade done to deserve the automatic recall? Maxwell needs to show he is interested in playing test cricket or get banished to 20/20 for a decade.
Saying that these batsmen are due in the 2nd innings had a few bats to adjust now surely one will fire.

Haddin is one of the better players of spin in the country and now that he is over there he should have played as a specialist bat even If they felt wade needed to come back in. I'm not disappointed khawaja didn't get a game as he isn't a great player of spin and would have got shown up. Hopefully he gets picked now cos he plays pace well and hasto play in the ashes

Everyone plays spin well here.... because we don't have anyone that turns it prodigiously. Agarth flights it well, being tall certainly helps. It surprises me how many batsmen struggle against spin and don't watch the rotation of the seam out of the hand.
The best thing I got told wrt playing against class spinners is to try playing them off the back foot as much as possible, then you can work the ball for easy singles and it forces the bowler to throw the ball up further, then you come forward and get half volleys or if the ball gets above your eyes come down the wicket and take it on the full.
What Clarke did in the 2nd test was premeditated and stupid.
Yes Haddin plays spin well because he waits for the ball. Disagree that Khawaja doesn't play spin well - Warner and Hughes don't play spin well. Also Clarke is too keen to leave his crease. That ball he got stumped off he could have simply played off the back foot through the offside for an easy single

This is going to be a fascinating day of test cricket. Could be a result by tonight.

Toss it up Nathan! 7 for.. Very well done. :>

What do you reckon, could the Indians chase down 180 on this pitch?

Amazing decision to open with Maxwell in 2nd innings hasnt Watson been moaning about not opening?
Hoping Wade and Smith can keep this partnership going need plenty more runs after more failures.

Gee theres been so fair old send offs so far in this innings. Match ref might be busy. Watsons shot to get out was horrid he has had a shocking series

What is Maxwell supposed to be, a batsman who can bowl a bit or a bowler who can bat a bit?

Feel sorry for blokes of the past like Jamie Siddons, Martin Love etc,... who used to churn out the runs & never / hardly get a test due to good batsmen in front of them then we get Hughes Maxwell Warner & co who can't get dropped

Surprised how bad they are going the batsman that is the first 4 nil series loss since 1970 against the South Africans.
Starting to think a bloke like Chris Rogers should be brought in to open for the ashes with Watson and Cowan at 3 just treat it as 10 tests to get results dont worry about future planning that is another issue.

Am I the only one who thinks this has been a massive over reaction from the media about this loss to India? Fact is when we were number one in the world we still lost to India in India. How quickly it's been forgotten we beat India here 4-0 a year ago was that the worst Indian team of all time? No that's just the score, we always battle there and they battle here.

I genuinely think we can win in England if we sort the side out. No alrounders just picky our best 6 bats a keeper and 4 bowlers we can win. Warner, Cowan, Hughes will all be better suited in England and our bowlers will be more tHan a handfull. Happy to take the odds about us now anyway but I guess time will tell.

Statistically it was the worst series loss by any team from any country in the history of test match cricket in India.
So no, i don't think it is an over-reaction by the media....
Hughes and Warner's technical inadequacies found out on turning wickets. The seaming (and turning) wickets in England will be no different. Yes with Panasar and Swann and our lack of a world class spinner, the english pitches will turn also.
They won't get an Adelaide Oval pitch over there

Starting a test match with a day 3 wicket sees the test come down to who's got the best spin bowlers and ours are average. That was the difference. No one would have scored runs against their spinners consistently on those wickets.

Even with your insights into playing spin. Play off the back foot and wait for the full toss. Ha ha yeah try that when Jadeja is bowling 95km/h when some are ragging and some are skidding on and it's all down the variation off the pitch. More like wait to get lbw or bowled. Easy game from the couch.
