R1. Publican Maiden - Scott Embry

Railtrain Express was backed from 15s into 8s two starts ago when he led over 1400m and was gunned down late by Spin Da Wheels, a promising Saturday type. Last start he led again at Belmont when fading over the final furlong, from barrier 4 he should find the front very easily and is the one to beat. Expecting a short price but with race fitness, experience and class should be winning this. Yet another Kim horse steps out on debut for the Burnett stable, an impressive trialler behind first up Belmont winner Miss Santa Fe, the awkward barrier hurts but this does look a weak 2 year old maiden; with the blinkers added to racing gear he should be hitting the line hard. Shooey, an average trialler who impressed on debut, positioned up outside the pacemaker and fought on well beaten less than a length behind Mr Balfire who lines up on Saturday. Pago Minx tried hard behind Artistic Life and if he can overcome the draw should again be competitive. Blinkers should sharpen up Big Jack on debut and they should round out the first 4s.

1. RAILTRAIN EXPRESS - 5. KIM DYNAMITE - 2. SHOOEY

SUGGESTED BET - 1. RAILTRAIN EXPRESS $30

Sequalo System has always found a way of being beaten, a rising 7 year old with a record of 0 from 19 says it all but I think start 20 could be the lucky one. Six placings from 7 starts at Northam, three placings from 4 first up runs, 4 placings from 7 starts over the short course, a great draw and a gun hoop. If she can't get the job done today then she'll probably retire without a win. The Cat That Can was impressive at his recent Lark Hill trial beaten only a short half head by Al Faisal who got the job done as an even money favourite last week at Pinjarra. He looks to have ability and should give this a good shake. Big Clint is regularly tipped by highly respected tipsters but perenially disappoints, supported from 7s into 4.80 at Ascot last campaign when running third behind Kelia suggested he was finally about to break through but as always let punters down when sent to Bunbury for an easy kill, beaten 10 lengths. Rip the Lid off ran a nice race last start at big odds and Sing it Loud from the Durrant stable are both exotic inclusions.

    8. SEQUALO SYSTEM - 7. THE CAT THAT CAN - 1. BIG CLINT

    SUGGESTED BET - 8. SEQUALO SYSTEM $15 x $15

R3. Selim And Dandy Jim Maiden - Scott Embry

Misty Mak should find the front very easily from the inside gate, only beaten a length at his past two runs he will give backers a good sight. Should lead them into the home straight and with the rail out at various parts of the track he will look the horse to beat with a furlong to run. Huss Go Lightly has been impressive this campaign hitting the line well on both occasion, should be able to position up perfectly just behind the leaders and looks close to a maiden victory. Enemy Lines was ridden like the best horse in the race and ended up very dissapointing when sent to Kalgoorlie to get the money, never looked like catching them and has to contend with a horribly awkward gate here. Previous form was sound and may simply have not handled the Goldfields course. Storm Sense has run two handy midfield runs at Pinjarra and any positive betting move on horses from the Wolfe stable must be respected.

    4. MISTY MAK - 6. HUSS GO LIGHTLY - 2. ENEMY LINES(NZ)

    SUGGESTED BET - 4. MISTY MAK $10 x $10

R4. Lady Stirling Maiden - Scott Embry

Happy to sit back and watch them go round in an open maiden event. West River Billie has run consecutive places beaten a length or less on both occasions. Her run at Pinjarra behind Flying Time in a class 1 race at odds was super impressive. Flying Time was yet again heavily supported in betting on Saturday when ridden back in the field and rocketing late to finish third. Last start beaten less than a length Surrendering, who finished fifth as a beaten favourite yesterday at Belmont Park. If she had drawn a barrier I would be very tempted to have a nibble but from out there I'd prefer to just watch. From barrier 3 with Willy Pike Elsie's Rhapsody should be given the run of the race and every chance to win. San Savana put in a black booking performance on debut behind yesterdays $2.60 Belmont favourite Storm Raider. Positioned well off the pace on the turn she attacked the line with her neck stretched. A repeat performance would see her more than competitive here. Aloha Miss has been a beaten favourite at this track and distance her last two starts while Royal Hotness should improve with the addition of blinkers following a reasonable effort behind Top Stuff.

    10. WEST RIVER BILLIE - 12. ELSIE'S RHAPSODY - 11. SAN SAVANA

Some big name trainers all prepare winning hopes in the first leg of the quaddie : Durrant, Miller, Poletti, Smith and McAuliffe. Danavana should be positioned closer to the pace makers today, having been forced to go back to the rear from outside draws at her last two starts. Motoring late on both occasions the step up to a mile looks as though it will suit and it would be no surprise to see the Danehill Express filly enter the winners enclosure. Heart of Mama ran her first unplaced race last start at midweek Belmont in an open 3 year old event, getting back and running on late. It's very rare to see Simon Miller make the journey to Northam with only one runner so I expect to see the filly finish in the money. Ora Dare struggles to string runs together but looks to have ability, nice first up run over 1300m and should get a good run throughout. Excellently has impressed since arriving from the East and looks close to breaking through. Heeza Keeper has eachway hopes if he can gain a run while Frisbee, Fancy Footwork and Chariot Queen all look like quaddie inclusions.

    14. DANAVANA - 10. HEART OF MAMA - 3. ORA DARE

    SUGGESTED BET - 14. DANAVANA $10 x $10

R6. Gooseberry Handicap - Scott Embry

Personally I think Slick Shifter, Magical Mist and Shoot For Glory are the only three runners with legitimate winning claims. Magical Mist was well supported late in the market when winning on debut here a fortnight ago, rises 3kg on that run but importantly gains the services of W.Pike. The step up in journey should not pose a problem and she should again fight out the finish. Shoot For Glory will get better as the distances increase, positioned on pace with the fitness benefit of a race under the belt he should run them along and look the winner rounding the turn. Slick Shifter won his maiden well and has followed it up with two more than handy runs at Belmont since. Box seating from the inside gate with the benefit of the cutaway to true in the straight he could sneak home along the rails to victory. Of the others Wayward Warrior has had 17 good chances to win but never quite gets within striking distance however the Don't Remind Me form line held up nicely yesterday at Belmont, Zambouli found them way too strong in the city last start and will appreciate the drop back in class.

    4. MAGICAL MIST(NZ) - 1. SHOOT FOR GLORY - 3. SLICK SHIFTER

R7. Flos Handicap - Scott Embry

Two starts ago at Belmont midweek Grand Crusade won by over 3 lengths, Fanicio who ran second has since posted a win and a second in Saturday Metro 72+ and 78+ races; Helena Miss who finished 6th has since run a 4th and a 2nd on Saturdays and Gold Flight who finished second last behind Grand Crusade that day came out and won last Wednesday at $4.50. His last start was in the Listed Belmont Guineas behind the all conquering filly Summah's Touch. He should be simply too good for his rivals here. Friar's Tip has run some handy races in his short career and impressed at his recent trial after 7 months in the paddock. First up over 1400m and from an awkward gate to win would be a big effort. I've thrown Astra Sky into the mix for third to add some value to the trifectas and first 4s, she looks as though shes matured well and is ready to start giving these races a shake. Copper Reign continues to run good races as a rising 8 year old. Positioned handy to the speed should be finishing close to the winner. Smart Chance is another seasoned campaigner who enjoys both the distance and the track.

    1. GRAND CRUSADE - 3. FRIAR'S TIP - 10. ASTRA SKY

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. GRAND CRUSADE $50

It is quite hard to place The Expert, sent up to Kalgoorlie by Steve Wolfe on debut, widely tipped and duly saluting in relatively easy fashion. Second up ran 4th at a Saturday Ascot meet behind Dueton when getting well back in the field and then very disappointing as a beaten $1.60 favourite in Albany. His recent trial was unimpressive but he wasn't tested. At full fitness he could win this by lengths but could just as easily trail them in. My best mate Sticks McCormack was all over Ashanti Lass declaring it a good thing at Northam last start, on respect I will give it another chance here. Saxon Coast has been average this campaign but money doesn't lie and the mad backing from 34 into 8s at Belmont last start suggests he should be more than competitive in this class. Graceful Charli should find the front and be the one to catch, Estralla ran a nice race first up at Belmont and acquires the best jockey in the state, Not an Act was a surprise last start winner and should again be finishing strongly.

    5. THE EXPERT - 10. ASHANTI LASS - 1. SAXON COAST

Zambouli the best of the day. As much as $9.50 bet this morning. No luck last start and previous three runs were massive with the form being franked.

If it looks to good to be true then it usually is right... would love to know why they have Grand Crusade running round at Northam.

the big fella is halfway round the world as we speak so there will be no explanation, now I guess we'll have to wait and see after the 7th

    Quaddie

    1-3-6-7-10-11-12-13-14
    2-4-8-9
    1-10
    1-7-9-10-13

I'll be having a crack at Media Mak in race 5 at each way odds. Lauras Sky in the last each way with B Patt onboard also looks the go.

    Good luck
