Another Waterhouse horse with" Satuday Night Fever"
and I thought it was just the cocaine that rubbed off the stable hands and onto the horses. Now it's the night time activities too :))
yeah...great idea, right in the middle of sydney's autumn carnival.... =))
puntingtragic indeed....
8-}Anything would be better than that disgrace Perth Cup more like Perth Schmucks
Give the Sydney runners a shot at a million dollar consolation race in the west

Mmmm, maybe but where would the million come from and the race would have no group status.
agree about the cup being a non-event BUT, its the best cattle we can produce.

I do t know the solution but they need to change something it's a dud race for the New Year's Day crowd as a racing event it's jumped the shark
None of us can change it why can't we create a top WFA 2000 m race in its place its called been progressive no one rates the Perth Cup no one
what distance? -
do they have to win a G1 to be classed as quality? -
if so how many G1's to so be called quality? -
do we pick each G1 field to pieces and make our own judgemnt to our perceived standard of quality in that particular race and then rate the horses? - so a placing in a so called quality G1 then gives that particular horse a rating as a "quality" galloper.
That is of course after we have taken barrier draws, weather on the day, track condition , the colour of the winning hoops sisters best friends dress for the day, luck in running etc into consideration
And I assume that to get a field of 16 over 1200 then you would need at least 50 horses rated "quality" ( injury , spelling, interstate etc etc)
and another 50 rated "quality" for 1600
and another 50 rated "quality" for 1800 and above.
Throw into the mix the different timings of each states carnivals then we would need a pool of approx 550-600 "quality" G1 horses to make each and every G1 run a "quality" race.
Keep putting racing down here and wtf would anybody bother investing in the industry [-(

has become a joke race re the lack of depth an quality
Three quarters of the noms could not run 2400 down a well
It's just a party day with a good prize money race with some ave horses going round in what really is a lottery
They are worth a bit, Summer Cup I think is same as Villiers which is $175k.
If money was the issue I would have thought $500k in Perth is worth looking at.
