Has anyone heard any interviews, scuttlebut, read any reports etc etc of anyone of the runners putting some pace into this and making a genuine race of it?

On paper (at least) it looks like a 1300-1400 metre canter with a 400-500 metre sprint home as per usual.

If like to see Mr Moët attack the pace with the wide gate roll forward makes sense should run a strong 1800 why not

Rohan's training was on syd radio this morning saying he would most likely box seat. He also thought Ihtsahymn might press forward and use the weight advantage. David Gately(Get On, TVN) has Mr Moet racing forward on his speed map.

They could probably do another version of this one and reverse the roles. Symons' ride on Jessy Belle last Friday night at the valley was a shocker. Sat on the rail and rode for luck on the fav no less. It's in at Caulfield on Wednesday though.

Good article in 2days west page 24 about owners of LG. very powerful stuff! Im betting on MrM today but should he get rolled by LG so be it, i will be happy for those parents who lost their child. Im sure this horse has given them a light in a very dark part of their life.

A day devoid of commercial sponsorship in naming rights for any race on the card. Now how is that possible on a Group 1 race day ?

I didn't think there was anything more that could surprise me.

At the prices, MM is far better value at 7.50 than Luckygrey at $3 or so. Ive jumped off Ihtsahym, while last start was very impressive in my opinion 3yos were suited better with an Aquinita run in the lead up to this race. MM is the better horse IMO at this distance range

Tabtouch is offering $9 for Mr Moet, never a good sign...

They offered overs about Barakey and Smokin Joey the other week, that didnt turn out well.

The only danger to the Gray at the weights is the 3yo IMO, not that I know anything...

Playing God could b the smokey. Could be camped just behind or outside the leader and be the one to run down

I've got LG on top - with Itsahymn finishing powerfully and MrM finishing OK to run 3rd.

Those three should run the trifecta!

The Gods will have to turnaround their form to beat those three.  Can't have Elite Belle at WFA.

Looks a great race, albeit a smallish field.

@H-BOMBER, the TAB have only got it wrong once - Boban (in the Emirates) was their only loser to date.

Rohan will run much better today and has shown this prep that he can sit on the speed and run very well although I do prefer him ridden quiet, if he runs well here at the set weights he will be very hard to beat in the cup

Now this might set the cat amongst the pigeons somewhat. From today's West Australian it appears that Justin Warick has advised stewards that Black Tycoon will infact take advantage of his barrier draw and show the way in front in the Kingston Town Classic today.

"Black Tycoon doesn't have the same ability as a Mr Moet or a Lucky Gray so this is what I believe is the best way of him earning some money for the owners" says Warick.

I actually don't mind this tactic, because Black Tycoon remember is actually dropping down in distance as apposed to most of the other horses. So if he goes along at a steady clip out in front, then it'll probably feel to him like he's actually travelling a similar distance to his last start over 2200m's which is probably what he prefers anyway.

At least they will know he's had every opportunity to win the race. It's a but like putting in golf. A wise person once said to me "It's better to hit the ball past, than before the hole because at least you've given it a chance to roll in. But just because I've given it a chance, it doesn't mean that I don't end up 3 putting anyway #-o :P

about 10 minutes to go and southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h blowing like Railway day - will be a tough effort to lead at a decent clip and hang on.

I have had a small go at MM with savers on Ranger and Playing God [-O<
