    Those Morton horses improved a fair bit today. Temporise never looked like losing.

    Slip have a look at the company it was in last start and where it was in running, should not have been at those prices, but noticed a few liked it

    Lets have a look at the last race today won by Double Irish!
    (1) Draws Br11 and leads on its ear AND WINS at 50/1.
    (2)Last start at Kojonup wins in a sleek time of 1.15.73 over 1200mtrs.(Ha Ha)
    (3)The horse that it beat last start (Vaintorio) had only 1 2nd too its name in 10 starts at Narrogin and only snuck home by .35lgth.
    (4)That same race,a horse called Maud's Blessing finished only 2.50 lgths behind it! MB has had 5 starts before that with an average losing margin of over 7lengths Alb,Narr and so on!
    (5)That same race there was 8 starting (less Double Irish) with a combined total 75 starts and 4 placings!
    (6)Double Irish last start placing (before Kojonup) was at Geraldton on the 7/4/2013 where it settled last from Br10 and came 2nd too Lafite! Since Latife last win on that day it has had 4 starts,never been placed and beaten by nearly 8lgths every start!

    No gear changes today too say it will improve,so i shall just have too wait and see what the report says!

    the interesting thing is that maiden winners will be rated to 62 normally.

    this thing has just won what is basically the equivalent of about a class 2 or class 3 and will get a rating of ??????
    i am figuring as it was  a 56-68 then it will go to a rating of 60. Go figure.

    another dopey thing about wa handicapping that had escaped my attention until now.

    a horse wins against horses that have no wins and generally goes to 62
    a horse wins against horses that can have had multiple wins and goes to 60????!!!

    I fully understand your comment Carey.But the facts are very clear!This horse has never been a front runner,was there an announcement before the race that it was going too lead? And if there was that shits me as i believe that it should be on the CRIS site the night before with all the other info like the gear lists!There were 13 other starters in this race with a combined 28 wins and 76 placegetters! Forget about the ratings for 1 moment....Would you not think that this race of better quality than Kojonup!

    No way in the world should it be available on CRIS site the day before, connections have the right to at least plan their race based on the form provided, if they change tactics it should only be advised after horses have left the mounting yard. Does an AFL coach have to declare where he is going to play a certain player, and who is going to play on who a day before the game? Not likely...

    i am making no comment on the horse as such, just the system.
    i do note that yesterday was trainer number 6, it had had a few even before it got to the track.

    yes the race would have likely been better than kojonup, and i think my price for it was 150/1 or 160/1 or something, so i gave it none.
    if i had have know it would lead i would still have given it none.

    as far as notifying intentions, that is an interesting point, i personally am not too sure they should have to, so long as their intention is to win, then that's all i really care about.
    if it's a rule though, it should be either enforced or dropped.

    Pretty sure it lead all the way at Kojonup too, there is a video floating around FB with that race on it

    Seriously if you were betting in that last race yesterday you get what you deserve. You could have bought a large percentage of them for 100 bucks prior to the race.

    I started getting excited about 100 metres out.

    It must have been the luck of the Irish that got it home.as for me,had first 3 legs in quaddie with the 4 shortest priced runners in the last leg.que sera sera.

Motivated,well you might as well send an email to the CRIS site and tell them to get rid of the gear list's!(That's my personal view).     I agree about not having the info available the night before. Trainers/ connections are entitled to see scratchings, wind conditions, bias etc.

    But, don't for a second compare horse racing to the AFL. If people stop punting on the footy it has little effect. If they stop punting on racing.....well, we know the answer there.

    it's a time thing,  trainer might change tactics in the mounting yard after a discussion with his jockey. So long as it's announced on course i don't think you can expect much more

    Final plans for a race are usually made in the yard before the race, Track bias , scratchings, wind, known change of tactics of other runners etc etc are all taken into account when Plan A is finalised.
    Sure the basic race plan is put together at final acceptors however 9 out of 10 times it changes on race day

    :-? Should we also give each trainer/jockey competing against us a copy of our race plan the night before =)) :-)) =)) :-)) =)) #-o

    what an absolutely brilliant idea. @-)
    there are many riders and trainers around, that could benefit from a bit of punter knowledge, about the best way to ride their needy.
    considering how often many of them put their horses in impossible positions, it's obvious they have no clue themselves, or.........

    and think of how much help it would be to the stewards,
    there would be less punters asking them why they asked no questions in that race. :-?
    we would be less likely to think they are asleep at the wheel.

    i reckon that is suggestion of the year legless.

    What happens if the weather or state of the track make you change your mind from the night before.
    The forecast could change and there could be rain, or an early sea breeze , or no breeze at all.
    What about if the rail is slow and you were expecting it to be fast from your inside barrier.
    All race plans are virtually flexible until the jockey is on the horse and on the way to the barrier, he may even throw all plans out the window because of other factors. Some jocks don't even take riding instructions, they don't listen and just do as they see fit, quite often they are right.
    It is a race after all and race tactics are to be kept within the stables.
    Come to think of it I don't remember Churchill phoning Adolph and telling him they were visiting on D day

    Couldn't disagree more.

    Didn't see much financial backing for Double Irish (obviously) 

    But what happens in the AFL (and has happened on multiple occasions) when a defender is backed heavily for the first goal-scorer market and ends up playing in the forward line? Has happened a few times now, the most recent that comes to mind has been Daniel Merret? The AFL traced every bet that was place to find the source, it ended up being a family member or someone related to it, that AFL took it incredibly seriously and announced from then on serious sanctions would occur. 

    This is the most accurate analogy to a change of tactics in horse racing, it's when the financial support occurs and has happened plenty of times in WA racing where the integrity is jeopardised. Less so Double Irish because of the massive odds.
