    Ascot Track Ready To Race

    Earlier today Perth Racing Officials, RWWA Stewards and Industry Stakeholders including members of the WA Trainers Association and WA Jockeys Association inspected the track at Ascot Racecourse amid concerns that there were issues heading into the first race meeting of the Ascot Racing Season.

    Matters regarding the stability of drainage lines installed eight weeks ago were discussed and whilst some minor points were noted during the inspection, all stakeholders were of the belief that racing will continue to be staged in its splendour on the first day of the Spring Summer racing season.

    "All areas across the business at Perth Racing have worked tirelessly to prepare the grounds and facilities at Ascot and we are excited to welcome close to ten thousand racing enthusiasts for Crown Perth Opening Day, Saturday 17th October 2015", stated Cameron Sutherland, General Manager of Racecourse and Tracks.

    Who rode in the exhibition gallop.

    They had some vision on Fox - looked like 2 jocks out there inspecting the track - one looked like Jerry Noske - the other I couldnt make out

    gotta feel for all those patrons that forked out thousands of dollars for private suites etc

    im tipping because the got halfway through the meeting there wont be any refunds of any sort, it'll be like "last drinks now can you please vacate the premise type attitude"

    Speechless! Months off with the racing at Belmont and on the opening day a day which was a fine race card with the best races yet to come. The only positive from this is that no jockeys or horses got hurt.

    Very disappointing...I feel for all affected...owners, trainers, the punting public - especially me, as I was on a bit of a roll - not a good image despite the effort that apparently went into preparation (as mentioned in the release in Gilgamesh post above) over the Belmont season. 
    But safety is the big issue and I'm blowed if I would want to ride on a substandard track....

    NFI what you are going on about - cant find anything about Parnham falling during an exhibition gallop due to the unsafe condition of the track.

    Not doubting it happened just seems there was very little reported about it.

    Everything is OK on course.

    Perth Racing apologises for the cancellation of the races. We have plenty of entertainment including a DJ & a live band @ Stone Motherless

    Lenience was doing an exhibition gallop with Steve Parnham up.At about the 50 metre mark the horse stumbled and dislodged the rider.Both horse and rider were ok.
    This then lead to Craig Staples,Troy Turner,Shaun O'Donnell,Jason Whiting and Jarryd Noske inspecting the track accompanied by stewards.A hole was found in the track,presumably caused by vibrations from the horses in earlier races causing the sand under the surface to shift.
    Trainers Neville Parnham,Adam Durrant and Grant Williams then informed stewards that they would not allow any of their horses to run as the track was unsafe,a view shared by the jockeys.
    Meeting abandoned!
    I am not sure how big the hole was as owners weren't allowed on the track,however the prevailing view was that if there is one hole,could more open up.

    Its about a meeting being called off at a track that hadn`t had a meeting for 6 months and how PR could let it happen.

    Can`t see any posts that suggest it shouldn`t have been called off if it wasn`t safe (until yours).

    Perhaps you can explain what you meant by the 2 posts of yours that I quoted?

    Would be appreciated if you can stick to that question instead of doing your usual random, vague posts that ignore questions that don`t suit you.

    Then again might be better just to move on.

    What should have been a great day to showcase Perth Racing turned into a bloody fiasco!
    Some outlets had to stop taking orders for food as they could not keep up with demand due to not having enough staff.
    The bars also seemed to have a staff shortage and couldn't keep up,hence long delays for a drink.
    And then of course the track snafu.
    It was a fantastic day weather wise,well promoted and well attended,but as usual PR proves it is incapable of conducting a successful event.
    If this doesn't make members get off their **** and vote for change on the committee then nothing will.

    Understandably the trainers and jocks refused if unsafe I would agree with them. But this shouldn't ever be happening the length of time they've had to work on the track knowing that the return was coming up . Someone needs to be held accountable. Absolute joke that this has happened. Thankfully I wasn't on track today as had other commitments and had nothing racing. But I feel for those in attendance. But grateful no horses or jockeys got hurt in this pantomime.

    Appears from @Makybedon 's post above the joint may have been full of sinkholes - right decision to call it off IMHO.

    I don't consider my posts either random or vague - however just like arseholes everyone has an opinion and you are entitled to yours.

    You seemed to have taken a set against me - NFI why.

    I, unlike you do not consider myself a keyboard warrior. I'm just up the road from you and if you like I can pop in and we can see if we can sort out what ever it is your problem is
